Colorful Peplum Dress (Butterick 5916)

Hey ya'll!!!

It's no big secret that I love color. LOVE IT. The more the better.

It's no secret that I'm addicted to all things peplum lol. It's horrible really lol but in a good way.

Enter the colorful peplum dress:

I've had this fabric for a while. Waiting on the perfect pattern to come to mind.

It's busy, bold, bright and beautiful!

I wore this to church on Sunday and I couldn't move two steps without someone complimenting me on it. I love the gift I have. I really do.

Special shout out to my photographer Kayla. She's doing an excellent job!

I decided to keep my shoes and accessories fairly simple since the dress was the show stopper.I ADORE my shoes because they are "my" color nude. I normally shy away from nude shoes but when I saw these I HAD to have them. They are Boutique9. I looked for them online but couldn't find them anywhere. I've had them a while.

For those of you who sew, here is a review:

Butterick 5916

Pattern Description: Semi-fitted dress has lined yoke fronts and mock wrap bodice, and back zipper. A: self-lined sleeves. A and B: single-layer peplum (wrong side shows) with narrow hem, and back hemline pleat. C: side front and back seam, and godets. A/B, C, D cup sizes.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? I followed these instructions step by step so for the review and they are very clear and well written.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved the style of this dress.


Fabric Used: Stretch cotton sateen


Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: The original length of this dress is not flattering on me so I shortened it by 5 inches. I also thought the front opening to be a LITTLE less than modest on me so I tacked mine closed. Didn't want any oopsie moments lol

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I don't think I will make this again. Too many dresses, not enough time lol. I do highly recommend this if it is your style.

Conclusion:Great pattern. Well drafted and went to gether very well.
