I don't know WHY I thought this "SHINY" Fabric was a good idea. It SEEMED like a good idea when I saw it. I look a flaming HOT mess!! I literally look like I am on FIYA! lol.
This style looks good on me, just NOT this fabric lol. I also saw where I would need to make some adjustments. I just can't call this a "wearable" muslin lol.
I messed this up a WHILE back. Like May or June and never got around to posting it.
How often do you have a complete fail when you sew?
like my grandma would say, "it's okay baaaay-beee"--and the look on your face, "priceless"--The pattern is cute though--i would use a jersey material {only if i can find my jackhammer and knock the dust offa my sewing machine}--love ya gurl!

Ohmygoodness - Mountain Dew went everywhere when I got to the part about you looking like you were on fiya! Yes, I agree that fabric is not for you. We all have those moments when fabric and pattern just don't play nice together!

Mmm, fairly regularly, and ALWAYS when I mismatch fabric and pattern. You're so brave to show that. My "yucks" don't even get shown to those living in the same house!

You look like you're ready for a music video! (I'll let you choose the artist.)
My failure rate used to be 50%, now it's more like 33%. In fact, I have a feeling the dress I will sew today is going to be an epic failure...

Good question, how many fails let me count the ways, the plaid dress, the eggplant jumpsuit, a knit top I never even posted all epic fails, need I go on. We all have them it's just God reminding us that we're not perfect and it's okay. Actually I like that blouse (does that mean I have bad taste) maybe for evening wear but if you don't like it donate it.

I feel you, well you can always turn it into a pillow or may be an apron. Out of terrible projects comes other possibilities. At least you can admit to a project gone wrong, some people will tell you it's the best thing they ever made. However, it is still not as bad as the dress that woman wore to church, lol.

wow that fabric does look like flames

I have my moments of total wadders and just move on.

Bwaahhaaa! I'm laughing/crying with you. Been there, done that, trashed it. The fabric is pretty in theory - maybe salvage it for lining pockets or something.
the sad thing is someone would wear this in real life... and think they're HOT stuff instead of HOT mess.

How often you ask......LOL.....good question!!! Often enough!!! I guess it comes with the territory. I think most of the greatest things I've learned about sewing have come from my biggest mistakes!

All was not lost. You saved me from making this from a shiny fabric. The colors are good though and the next one you make will be perfect.

I don't think it looks bad but I'll take your word for it. I've been sewing for 43 years so have made my major mistakes a looooong time ago. These days I can usually make anything work. So far this year I've only had two wadders. I've save them both because I think they both can be salvaged but I just wasn't in the mood at the time.

Too funny!!!!! Thanks for the laugh :-).

Sometimes what we see in our head comes out looking like, "what was I thinking"?! The look on your face is priceless, though! LOL! I gotta go get a drink of water, 'cause I feel hot all of a sudden...

LOL, more times then I care to remember, I'm about to post a bunch a wadders as soon as I can. LOL, looking at your face.

Oh gurl...lol, have had some of those moments...The style is really nice on you though, I guess you can still save the top for lining...Have a great week

That's too bad, but really,... Can you name a gal who can honestly claim this had never happened to her?? Only those who don’t sew lol! It happens, hopefully it happens less and less over time, because we learn from these little mistakes!
Posted by: Tany | August 09, 2010 at 10:24 AM
Hehe.. I've had those moments as well! Can't wait to see the improved version!

HAHAAAAAAAAAA! Girl this post should have come with a warning..I almost spewed liquid thru my nostrils!! OMG!! I actually choked when I read "ON FIYA" cause I had just though..hmm she's ready for the Classic Hot Mess Dress.
And to the question: How often do you have a complete fail when you sew?...ummm like every other time I turn on my sewing machine to sew a garment. It's ok Sugabook, now you know to leave the Classic Weekend fabric alone. *Can you tell I can't wait for Classic? lol

it must be wadder week in blogland, this is the third post I've read about a wadder, I hope this bug is not catching, I have way to much to sew to catch this one
Posted by: toy | August 10, 2010 at 05:27 AM
I have a complete failure sitting on my sewing machine right now I just refuse to let it go but I think I'm going to have to. At least the style is cute on you. NO comment about the fabric LOL
Posted by: Neecha | August 10, 2010 at 08:22 AM
Then I scrolled down to see what you'd been up to on the sewing scene and almost fell off my chair laughing....sorry, but it is funny...project gone wrong. No, I also have no idea about what you might have been thinking. Maybe about the sunset? Cruise still on your mind?
In any case it was a good laugh.

Hey Adrienne, maybe you could donate it to the 'bare back in church gal'. That way you could laugh too when it turns up in church and her back would be covered.

Now that Tommy has extracted as much money as he can from Hollywood liberals and Wall Street, he'll try to 'run to the right' - but he shouldn't delude himself into thinking that his track record won't follow him.

I love that you posted a "hot mess!" We all have hem. You have great tastes and your clothes look good on you. You've inspired me to pull out a pattern or two and get busy!

Richard write song after excellent song. He periodically sends me song or an album he's done. One, back in '04 or so, was pretty slick indie pop and is something I listen to, still, all the time. Once he sent me a couple of pure electronica tracks and those were pretty amazing too.

Professionalism can only be acquired using the aid of graphic style service that's well-reputed, skilled, inventive and above all cost-effective.
