I was at the park today and I saw this older guy out walking. WITH A CANE!!!
I looked at him as he did his brisk walk and thought about all the excuses people make. Why aren't you taking care of yourself? You don't have time? You don't like it? This man walking with a cane lol. GTFOOH. lol.
People have an excuse for EVERYTHING. Seriously.
My dad told me growing up that excuses are like a$$holes. EVERYONE has one, and if that ain't the truth, I don't know what is.
Why do people always make excuses? WHY? You see there is this thing called FREE WILL lol.
Just something that was on my mind.
Toodles.
I concur my father walks with a cane and he never makes excuses for the things that he knows he can do even when the rest of us don't believe he is capable. He proves himself everytime

Not only does this man make time to take care of himself, he probably has piece of mind just being out and walking by himself. Sometimes thats all you need.

OMG You took the words right out of my mouth (or stole them off my computer screen, your pick!)....I'm so SICK of excuses!
Love the photo of the man walking....I should print that out and put it on my fridge for inspiration.

Great post, I totally agree. There is a guy that walks over a mile each way to Jim's train station every morning with a severely malformed leg and foot. He starts out at 4:30 in the morning to make it for the 5:30 train. Then when he gets downtown, he takes another train out to the northern suburbs and then a bus to get to his job. This guy never misses work, ever. Jim learned this as he saw the guy walking in the morning and stopped to offer him a ride. Now he gives him a ride every morning. But imagine the dedication! That guy is taking care of his family every day despite the circumstances.
I also love the people who blame God for their own weaknesses/slackerdom (to your point about free will.) There is a woman I know at work who insists that she will quit smoking if God wants her to. I actually wanted to say , um, why wouldn't he want you to? Why would he want you to continue to smoke?

I love it! I meant to comment on this picture when you posted it on twitter.
Robin's story has me smiling. I love hearing about people doing good deeds for others. But I'm mad at her coworker!

We able bodied people, generally take for granted the blessing we possess. Those that are jobless would love the jobs we hate. Those that are blind would love to see the beautiful scenery we over look everyday. We miss the beautiful butterflies (the positive) because we are so stuck on what ugly creatures they were as caterpillars (the negative). I think from time to time we all do that, but thank God he gives us another chance to GET IT RIGHT:)
That elder is inspiration enough for us all

An excuse is a lie we tell to ourselves.

A 93 y/o neighbor of mine walks the length of our street every single day--rain or shine, cold or hot. He walks with a cane and is hunched over severely and has to take frequent breaks, but he's always out there without fail. I'm so inspired by him and I wish I had half of his commitment.
Now that said, I don't think I saw him out walking in the freak snow storm we had yesterday. The slacker. ;-)

Very good point, sadly we know they are excuses when we say/think them.
