I am getting ready to do some branching out...
I LOVE sewing. Especially for myself lol but this year I've done something that I wasn't doing before....sewing for others lol. Namely the people in my house and I really enjoy it! LOL
I'm no expert....I don't claim to be. I just really love sewing and making things. Sometimes I think I do a great job, sometimes I FAIL lol. I talk about all of it lol....i'm SO not perfect lol.
I've been talking about sewing home decor for a while now. Well it's time to get that started lol.
My mom knows how to reupholster furniture and now I'm going to give it a go. I am also going to make some window treatments for a few rooms in my house, and FINALLY make my duvet cover...yeah the one I've been talking about for a GOOD while now lol.
I'm really excited about it. I'm not going to rush myself (rushing isn't conducive to sewing lol) but I am going to take my time, make good choices and do a fab job!
I also want to quilt....NOT all those little triangles and squares quilting. I don't want to do that. I just want to do a few simple quilts. Things that my family and a few close friends can treasure.
I've been doing my research and I already know where I want to start. I also have some good books to help me along the way:
Perfect!! Nothing like new endeavors to put some spice back in your crafty life!! I absolutely love the Modern Quilt Book you have. I want to make the one with the free motion circles...someday...LOL!

Always exciting to do new things!!
I keep planning on quilting myself for the same reasons...when I get in a bigger place...oooh and get a sewing machine! LOL
So the MAC laptop died on you?? Definitely a good reason to get a new computer!
Have fun with your new endeavor and I hope it is successful, on your terms, for you!!

Wow
I guess we all want to do some quilting, I am really looking forward to starting that. My sister has done all of her home decor the drapes and even some comforters and I did not even know it at first. We were talking about something else and says I did those drapes and the some others I was so surprised because I thought the decorator had them made.
I am sure that you will do a great job at making the home decor as you have with the soap making - cooking - apparell sewing okay okay. Everything.
I always tease people about getting the MACs by saying that they have gone to the dark side but I am really, really considering getting a MAC myself.

Every once in a while, we need to step things up a little, don't we? Good luck on the new endeavors.

The best thing about this new course is that you have your mom as a reference point! I will be looking forward to seeing your new home...and have a great vacation!

I can't wait to see your new home decor projects. Your sewing projects always turn out so good, I can't believe you would ever fail at sewing!!!

I can't wait to see all the projects you tackle. I know it will be fun. I helped my mother redo her dining room chairs, and that was fast project. I've done a what I call a mini duvet. It more like a reversable lap blanket for the living room. I also made a matching pillow to go with it. Curtains are next on my list I think.
Anyway, enjoy!!

I can't wait to see your home decor projects. I have a bunch I want to do too and hopefully I can get to them soon.
Good Luck!

I've just discovered your blog and LOVE your garments! So inspiring! Good luck with the quilting and home dec. I've just dipped my toes into the world of quilting with a couple machine-quilted baby quilts. They turned out surprisingly well, and I'm a novice sewist at best.

Your cell phone pic looks better than my camera pic. I do hope I get a new one for Xmas. Anyway, I can't wait to see what you take on. I love decorating!!! I also truly appreciate you and your candidness.

YAY! I can't wait to see what you come up with! I've done some home decoration sewing in the past but I'm mainly a clothes making gal, LOL!

OMG! We are on the same page when it comes to home dec sewing. I started making curtains last night. I'll have to post some pictures on my blog. I really need to blog more. To make the curtains, I'm using Singer Sewing for the Home book.
I want to make a duvet cover for my bedroom and coordinating pillows. I've been drooling over some home dec fabric at JoAnn's. I want it but let me see how the curtains turn out first :)
Quilting- When my grandmother died a few years ago, I got her unfinished quilts because I was the only family member interest in sewing. I don't know if I want to get totally into quilting but I do want to finish what she started. It will be bittersweet because I miss her. My grandmother could sew anything. She's the person who taught me to sew, cross-stitch and embroider. I wish she were here to see all the sewing blogs. She would have loved it.

Hey, we're polar opposites! I can sew home decor kinda stuff. But I'm skerred to DEF to sew clothes :-). But as I mentioned to you before, I'm gonna try and make me a dress...gonna be interesting to see how that turns out.
I think you'll do great with home decor stuff. Especially considering how well you do with clothes. I'm jealous!! :-) Keep us posted.

This is something I wanted to get into. But being a beginner stopped that kind of thinking in my tracks. Now I believe it shouldn't. People are liking my pillow cases and have been ordering some and that just affords me to go out and buy some more fabric. As soon as I start my blog I will display them. Why not sew for other people and let other people experience your talent wth sewing as they do with your Scrapbooking.

Can't wait to see your projects. I have been browsing furniture on craigslist so I can try my hand @ upholstery. I remember when my computer flashed the screen of death...I don't think I'm over it yet. Have a fabulous weekend!
