Hey Peeps!!! Let's throw it back...
How about a FUNNY throw back...
Do y'all know who that is?!?!? lol I Think Tony was in the 7th or 8th grade....FUNNY!!! LOL
The Dress:
BTW...When I took this pic, I had just finished roller setting my hair lol. TRUST it doesn't look like that now lol
The Story lol....
I started working on this dress last Saturday. I was going to wear it to church on Sunday...welllllll.I had some trouble setting the sleeves and I put it down. I had to rip it back out and I swear that took me ALL WEEK. LOL
Soooooooooooo I get back in the groove of sewing up my dress....got all my gathering PERFECT....the bubble skirt is looking PERFECT...I finish it up...cut away extra thread....ya know...getting READY....
BABBBBBYYYYYYY when I went to put the dress on...it went on JUST FINE...but the more it slid down my behind....whooo lawd...talk about TIGHT...
See, what had happened was...I knew I needed lining fabric to hold the hem in place....I didn't read the pattern envelope (READING IS FUNDAMENTAL Y'ALL)...I used REGULAR OLD ORDINARY LINING FABRIC instead of TRICOT! LOL
Y'all that dress is SO FREAKING TIGHT. I can NOT sit down in it. You should have SEEN me hopping around my studio trying to take it off. HILAROUS. I promise you it took me about 30 minutes to get out of the dress. So I put it on for you guys to take a pic and do my review lol, and Tony had to help me out of it lol. I WILL make this again because I REALLY like this dress....next time I will just use the correct lining ;-)
It might look normal from the outside...but I PROMISE you...that sucker is TIGHT lol
Alright...that is IT for me! Have a fun and safe weekend!!!
Toodles!
Too funny! The dress is tooo cute! I would love to have one like this to wear with my maroon and white boots! I love the color! It's something about the maroon and white!

Well, you sure look great in that dress - tight or no! And I just had to laugh remembering that black and white striped turtleneck in the video...seemed like every fella had one of those back in the day where I was. :o)

Well that was silly wasn't it? You must have been distracted..of course..lol. How about taking the lining out - just cut if necessary from the bodice. Then reline with tricot or some stretch fabric or just leave it unlined and hem it. Cos it looks really cute on you.

LOL!!! It looks fabulous on you, though!! I hate when I do that...which is more often than I like to admit. ;)

You've gotta fix that dress--it's so pretty on you!!

Cute dress, but I'mma shake my head at you trying to line a knit dress with a woven lining. ROFL

That dress is so cute on you...I love the top! It's too bad about the lining!
Posted by: Jillian | October 24, 2008 at 08:49 AM
Which pattern did you use for the dress? The dress looks so nice on you. Replace the lining and enjoy!!

LOL. I have visions of you hopping around like Vanessa Bell Calloway in Coming to America.
Cute Dress anyway :)

That dress is so cute. I love the color on you. Don't you hate when that happens. Especially when it is a fabric you really like. When I see a fabric I like I buy more than I need just in case mistakes happen. I hate to get rid of nice fabric.

you can fix it right? or just save it for your standing up events!!
Posted by: toni | October 24, 2008 at 10:05 AM
Do you know I just bought fabric to make this dress last week? In a similar color? And that I'm planning to make it this weekend? I'm making it with the pockets, but I'm not going to keep the bubble hem.

The dress is beautiful and doesn't look tight at all!
Posted by: Kristi S | October 24, 2008 at 10:29 AM
love that dress. it looks great on you from the front- i'll have to take you at your word about the back! lol it's a great color too!
Posted by: Lisa | October 24, 2008 at 10:36 AM
LOL! You are too funny, you are right you can't tell from the outside, it looks great. When I made my bubble dress I had some lightweight lycra blend lining laying around. I wouldn't use tricot, because I think it will make the dress too heavy, because it's already alot of fabric. Try to find a really light weight stretch fabric. Love the color!

If you don't tell, we won't know 'cause that dress is ballin'. I love the color and the ankle boots are TDF! That was funny about having hubby help you get out of it.

Welcome to the forehead slappers club. Picturing you hopping around, dress halfway on, mumbling a few choice words---*dead* But you look cute though. The next dress will look even better.

Red is your color. Sorry about the lining. I hope you can fix the dress somehow, because you really rock it.

Girl that dress is really pretty, and it doesn't look too tight in the picture. The color is gorgeous too! Like Tim Gunn says "make it work".

That's a good laugh for us all! You're too funny!
Fix the dress and wear it with pride. It looks wonderful.

Okay...OMG...how CUTE is Tony there?? Too cute! Tell him we all love it! :-)
I love the dress; it's gorgeous, even if it's super tight!
We never scrapped this week!! Waaahhh...

That's funny! Your dress looks nice though. That reminds me of a time I sewed a zipper into a shirt, but I sewed too close to the teeth and once I got the shirt on, I couldn't get it off! I had to use the seam ripper to take the zipper out so I could get out the shirt!

LOL! I'm sure you can fix it later!
Posted by: Tany | October 24, 2008 at 01:22 PM
And the dress is GORGEOUS, so you must fix it!
Posted by: Tany | October 24, 2008 at 01:23 PM
Love the dress! That wasn't THAT bad of a sewing mishap!
Posted by: robin | October 24, 2008 at 02:31 PM

Hold up, I was reading about the dress, Mom and dad and 15 bean soup, then went to go back for the throwback...I almost threw out my back, laughing! WHERE do you FIND this mess, lol!? I remember just about every song, they did had "freaky with 'chu" in it somewhere....

Your dress is gorgeous and like others said you can't tell its tight, but hoping you can fix it rather than redo another one.
Posted by: sheila | October 25, 2008 at 01:46 PM

Posted by: Kammie | October 25, 2008 at 06:05 PM
