I had such a fabulous weekend it was ridiculous! I got up WAY early Friday morning to go to the Steve Harvey Morning Show with my friend Tamika...
When I say WAY early...I mean WAY early. I went to bed a little after midnight...and met her around 2am ish....when we GOT there the line was ALREADY long to get in lol.
It was PACKED in there...this was before everyone got in.....
But we had FAB seats!!
How do YOU look at 2am? LOLI see bagsssssss under my eyes lol.
Special guests Avant
and Husband and wife duo Kindred took the stage.
I like Kindred...and I like Avant...but I'm NOT a big ole huge Avant fan. Just like a few of his songs.
The best stuff happened during commercial breaks. GOOD laughs...we really had a good time.
And for all you Nikon lovers....I TOUCHED...HELD a NIKON. I think my fingers will fall off now lol
The camera guys that were there were HILARIOUS lol. I don't know if it was because it was so early or what, but they were funny lol.
Once it was over (around 9am-ish) we went up to the stage to get a couple pics...
I think ever woman needs a pair of spanx. That is all. I KNOW I OWN SOME AND WEAR THEM! LOL
I came home to pick up Tony and we did a little running around...picked the kids up from school and started getting ready for the night activities.
Tony went to a football game and I met up with some of my girlfriends to go "out" lol.
The fellas ended up where we were so I danced the night away with Tony...
Ahhh, I went home...and seriously took a SHORT nap....we were up again at 7am to get ready for the big game...
THE MAGIC CITY CLASSIC Which is THE biggest HBCU Football Game. GO HBCU. I swear HBCU's don't get the credit OR recognition they deserve...but that is for another post...another time.
This was the traffic at 8am-ish...OH the game didn't start until 2:30PM lol.
Yeah it was CRAZY.
We went back and forth between two tailgates...hey what can I say lol. Wish we had clones lol.
One was with my family...the other with the Band...
Mannnnnnnnnnn we had so much fun...
Me and "Lil Frank" lol there is NOTHING little about Lil Frank...and I've been calling him this ALL my life lol. Soon as we got there, the party started lol. No better way to start the day...
SUPERB food..you KNOW you eatin good at a tailgate when there are greens...y'all don't even hear me.
Let's not forget the "Hooch" lol aka hunch punch.
Ok this was seriously the best punch I've EVER had...but I TRY to stay away from it because it will sneak up on you and knock you on yo azz. SERIOUSLY lol. It's like you are just drinking "juice" lol. They told me to slow down but umm...lol. It was just SO good ;-)
We made our way to the 2nd tail gate (which was directly across the street..yay for little walking lol) and had some fun over there lol...
Stayed for a while...headed into the game...
On the way in Mayor Larry Langford saw Tony and we took a pic...He has known Tony since highschool lol
ahhh the bands...
The crowds...
But WTF is wrong with State's Lines? Umm those are SUPPOSED to be straight...ANNA...that's YO school! LOL
Tony took a pic with the bulldog...first time in the HISTORY of the Classic that he has come in the stands lol
Sometime during the game, that hooch caught up with me lol
The final score!?!?!?
MAYBE NEXT YEAR STATE FANS!!! HHAHAHAHAHA!
Final pic of the night...
Camera got put away and we partied and enjoyed the win! WOO HOO
Now...*DEEP SIGH* All the fashion no-no's.
I had a WHOLE lotta stuff but SOMEBODY got delete happy with the camera and took it off so I will share what I have...
I still don't get why guys are doing this?
I swear...this must be the year that Run DMC reunite or something... I KEPT seeing this. UGH.
Ladies...now I KNOW y'all want to be "fierce" and all but leave these shoes at HOME...I KNOW her feet were HURTING! Mine were tired and I had on VERY comfortable shoes..
I "ALMOST" missed this one...and she was RIGHT in front of me...
WTH is going on here? Fur around her neck AND her hem?? Umm NO. She was walking like Snuffleupagus.
That about killed me...
EERRYYBody had on leather. Now it was COOL that morning...then it warmed up and got cool again. I saw folks with scarves, gloves, and leg warmers on...then others had on mini dresses and tank tops. People just don't know how to dress for the weather. LAYER PEOPLE...LAYER.
*SMH*
Can ANYONE explain this to me??? I'll wait...
THESE three guys...whew....they had on EXTRA Medium Vests... ALL THREE OF THEM. They must have all got them out of the toddler section at the same time..
Wheewww. Yeah....just tighter than nat-booty (Outkast) lol
Ummm NO.
BUT THIS RIGHT HERE?!!? THIS RIGHT HERE?!?! THIS ISH RIGHT HERE??
Y'all KNOW I Loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee shoes...
HTF do you let your heels get like this??! I mean seriously. The worst part of it was the fact that she actually LOOKED cute!!!
Ladies...don't go out with your shoes looking like this. They are fit for the TRASH.
That is it for me!! I had a great weekend and I'm glad it's over lol. My week is so super busy it's a shame, but I'mma do what I do and GET 'ER DONE!
Toodles!
Avant still has a career?! That's news to me.. I can only name one song! But hell, seriously, that last photo.. now that is why you go to the cobbler.. to keep those cute shoes in good condition. Those are beyond repair now!

Ahhaa, Ahhaa, Ahhaa!!!!The only words I have. What an epilogue?
I am seriously taking back the comment I made yesterday, Adrienne. You MUST go out more often with your camera....You could do a Fashion Police Week with dos and don'ts of fashion.
I could get to make more of those funny sounds...LOL...
Posted by: Heather | October 28, 2008 at 02:31 AM
wow.. that was picture heavy.. Thanks.. You got some good shots. A fun weekend as usual. You had on some fly outfits. I guess its nice to know how to sew. You can just wip em up!

Looks like you had a great time! Your fashion no-no shots...hilarious!
Oh yeah...I don't care what the score is...GO BAMA STATE!!! :)
Posted by: Valencia | October 28, 2008 at 06:20 AM
Okay, looks like you had FUN!!!
The sister with the shoes. I feel like I have to take up for her because I seriously effed up a pair of shoes that I purchased at NORDSTORM's because I was trying to be cute while walking around at my alma mater's (Jackson State University-SONIC BOOM BABY) Homecoming/Tailgate party last year. So, I feel this chick's pain. She probably didn't even know that her shoes had messed up :(
That's what you get when trying to tailgate and be cute!
Ya'll look like ya'll have soooooo much fun. Rock on SWAC! Rock on!!
Posted by: T.T. | October 28, 2008 at 06:42 AM
Hahahahahaha! Snort!
Adrienne, you have a future as a red carpet commentator. How about features during awards season???
Posted by: Gorgeous Things | October 28, 2008 at 06:42 AM
I am totally convinced now that you are a FOOL! LOL
Posted by: dana Brooks | October 28, 2008 at 07:50 AM

I'm glad you had such a wonderful time and lots of FUN!!!
Posted by: Tany | October 28, 2008 at 08:27 AM
OMG! Girl...these pix always crack me up! Bad fashion on somebody that thinks they are stylin' is hilarious!
Where did they dig AVANTE from? If I recall he has ummmmm.....0 hits out right now!LOL
I can't wait to see Steve Harvey when they come to Charlotte for CIAA!! Woo Woo!!
Posted by: Michelle | October 28, 2008 at 08:31 AM
All I want to know is did Alabama State's "Honey Bee's" make an appearance?
Posted by: Fergie | October 28, 2008 at 08:34 AM
Ohh, what fun in reading this post!! You are so funny. Thanks for sharing all of the pics, and it looks like you had a great time. Thanks for checking out the latest on the V.S. dress. I finished the lace edging for the hem and worked on the do-dads between each circle motif.....

Are you sure you're not from Philly? Those photos are funny as Hell. There is a name for those vests (smedium) small-medium. That white outfit and fur trimmed jacket and those pointed shoes with God only know what inside, the all time best.
Posted by: Tracy | October 28, 2008 at 09:28 AM
You are too funny! It looks like you had a wonderful time at the game.
I wanna know what's in the punch!
Posted by: Cassandra | October 28, 2008 at 09:33 AM
I'm really hoping something attacked homegirls heels on the way in the stadium and she did not leave the house in those shoes!!
Posted by: toni | October 28, 2008 at 10:01 AM
Those were her favorite boots *lol*
Posted by: Nik | October 28, 2008 at 10:23 AM
Ok, I should have a good day now. LOL!!! You should start a blog just for this type of stuff. Some of that was just unbelievable.
As far as HBCU's getting their credit due, I graduated from HU ~ Howard University, and I think #1) they are small in comparison and don't have the funds available like bigger schools, to recruit the talent that draws in the attention and crowds #2)they sometimes do it to themselves, some HBCU schools are fun very poorly
One good thing, the students are very commited and united and I love watching the step shows!

Fun times! Those shoes in the last pic are bonafide "Shyt kickers"! I haven't attended the game in about 4 or 5 years... I see nothing changes! LOL Amber is applying to ASU, so we'll have a reason to attend in upcoming years.
Posted by: Erica B. | October 28, 2008 at 11:29 AM
You always seem to enjoy your life! That's a great attitude to have!
Posted by: tiennie | October 28, 2008 at 02:08 PM
Okay...there is SO much wrong in those pictures!!!! That head on the first dude...whoah! BADDDDD!!!!
But you looked great in your pictures (even when you were half asleep. I would have looked like Death!). Now that I'm old I don't have as much energy to look nice...lol...or to put boots on my daughter's correct feet!!! :-)
Sounds like such a FUN time!! I want some of that punch!!!!! (That was one of my favorite parts of college.) Mmmmmmm....
Posted by: Cheryl | October 28, 2008 at 02:31 PM
HAHAHAHA!!! OH PUH-lease do more fashion don'ts! I can't stand too much more, tho, 'cause I keep snorting my coffee up my nose while I'm reading your posts! Love it! I also love your clothes, your cape is FABULOUS, and dress also (all your clothes are lovely).
Posted by: Sewellen | October 28, 2008 at 02:49 PM
Some of the women looked okay to me. Although I admit if it isn't shiny, tight, skimpy, or sheer I'm not really into what women wear. LOL!
I can't believe the woman in the last picture left the house with those chewed up heels on.
I can't get with any school that hypes of the band over the athletes. If they could get better players they'd do better, get more TV, get into better conferences, and make more to fund the rest of the schools as a result.
Is that punch a southern thing? I've only heard southern bloggers talking about it. One day when I'm not feeling so lazy I'll look up a recipe for it. I really want to try it.
Posted by: Freaky Deaky | October 28, 2008 at 02:57 PM
I love Avant. I just do.
Man, do these people know you photographing them? Be careful.
The pointy flats with the foot "wrap" is somebody who's been instructed by her doctors to not wear heels (she can't anyway cause it hurts to much) or pointed toed shoes (but she ain't ready to give them up). So, she has to wear the bandage (matching) just so that she can get through the day without is swelling up too much (prolly didn't work).

Hilarious, love the pics and the shoe thing, that is a pet peeve of mine, I’m thrifty but I will take my shoes and have them fixed before wearing them like that, a lot of young girls don’t even know they can have new tips put on, I had to school my DD’s friend because she would do that, I think those shoes had to be bad when she put them on a day’s wearing won’t do that. You guys look like you had a ball, even if you were sleep deprived, lol.
Posted by: Tanya | October 29, 2008 at 06:16 AM
Glad you had a good time at the classic and at the Steve Harvey show. I did that once and then tried to go to work. Never again. Nothing is worth getting up that early for. And the hunch punch picture is too funny. It does have a way of sneaking up on you.
Posted by: Renee | October 29, 2008 at 10:06 AM
Fun weekend, I need to come hang out with you. Fashion Police stuff is great.

Those shoes were a doggone mess! I was so hoping that they got like that while AT the game, not before! LOL I love when you do your commentary! You are so funny!
BTW, I finally got a blog!!!

I was actually listening teh Steve Harevy show Friday morning and it didn't even dawn on me that you could be there...Anyway..Looks like you guys had a great time and thanks for sharing the pics of WHAT NOT TO WEAR. The shoes bout killed me. I think it's the shoe lover in me that hates to see a pair of shoes that have been mistreated. PUT THEM OUT OF THEIR MISERY!!!!! :-)
Posted by: Tiffany | October 29, 2008 at 09:32 PM
Just like someone else said...I felt like I was right there with you! This is always one of my fav posts of the year and I look forward to the fashionistas on parade! Those vests and the toddler section had me rolling! I would have worn sneakers before I wore those pumps, which is exactly what they were....wore!
I need some Spanx...after seeing those photos...I NEED some Spanx! ps...Gheri Curls??? Lord, take me!
Posted by: Gina | October 30, 2008 at 05:37 AM
I have missed these posts! I don't know how that girl could go out with the heels on her boots that way - even black magic marker would have helped cover it!
Posted by: heidi | October 30, 2008 at 08:44 PM
Now that was some weekend!! LOL! Looks like you had a ton of fun though! LOVED the fashion no-nos!!

I really enjoy reading your blog.
I sure hope you do your fashion critique on all the shoppers that come to the malls during the holidays.
Posted by: JB | November 01, 2008 at 09:54 AM
AM-AM-AM-AM-U, a boody boody!!!!
Thanks for making me feel like I was there (at the Magic City Classic) You didn't miss a beat. I saw some stuff today at the mall that made me want to pull out my camera and snap a picture of it. The things that people wear (or don't wear) is crazy. You have to take a picture of it or no one would believe it.... Hilarious!!! Keep it coming
