Ever have so much to say you don't know where to start? That's how I feel right now.
Ya'll already know Aleida's death really messed me up. Her funeral was Friday and I read her obituary and was just sad again. Then I was happy that I was able to know her as well as I did. I remembered her laugh and how silly she was when we were on the phone lol. I was going through my email and found some that we recently shared. I marked them as important so they won't get deleted. I have our memories.
Stuff happens SO fast in life. I was on the phone with Stacey today when my mom called telling me about some new shoes she had just gotten from the galleria...not long after that I got word that she had been in an accident. She is fine but it could have been worse.
I've thought about the relationships I've had with SO CALLED friends. Life is too short for funny actin folks. I do not have time. I've learned a lot. I've had relationships that took a wrong turn because of mis-communication. I've had to go back and get some things straightened out. Those friendships that were REALLY true....you can work that stuff out.
Be sure to tell your people that you love them and appreciate them. Always. Don't take people for granted. They can quickly be taken away.
I guess I'm just rambling right now.
Anyway, I'm on a fabric diet until JAN 1 2009. I will NOT buy a single piece of fabric until then....
EXCEPTIONS lol because you KNOW there has to be some lol
Vacation fabric does NOT count lol. I have one trip planned in a few weeks and I will of course visit a fabric store and bring something home lol. I will NOT however get any fabric when I go back to ATL in a couple weeks.... I WILL NOT GO IN GAIL K lol.
I CAN do this lol. I found a bag of fabric I forgot I had lol. Time for an intervention lol.
I think I have enough lining fabric so I won't have to buy that. Outside of notions I think I'm good. LOL we will see.
Ok, that's it. I'm rambling. Hope you guys had a great day.
ARE YOU READY FOR HEROES?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I AM! WOO HOOOOOO!!! Great TV this week!
Glad your mom is okay! Wow... things happen so quickly. Good luck with your fabric diet. I can't could never commit to that! LOL

Your fabric diet made me laugh. The first thing I noticed when I pulled up your blog today was that countdown. It's so tiny it was hard to read. I was like 101 what until you can buy fabric? Certainly not DAYS!!! You must have a big stash. I'm sorry about your friend's death. I agree about life being short and unpredictable.

Wow...a fabric diet...till January! You go girl. Work that stash.I'm glad your Mom is ok.

Yes.. never take your friends or family for granted. Praise them even when you don't want to and be Thankful. Live every moment like its your last. When you bless others you are also Blessed!

I'm on a fabric diet but I don't have a set date. I just need to use what I already have in my stash.
It's true about your friends and petty people. You always know the real friends from the posers.

I'm glad you're mom's ok! And you're so right...life is unpredictable at best. But it really takes work not to just take for granted that everyone we love will always be there.
And I've decided I'm going to see if I can do no new fabric OR patterns purchases for the rest of the year. The only exception will be for something I have to have for reasons outside of my own head (e.g. black fabric for a kids' band uniform pants or some such thing).
I need to just put my head down and sew what I've got. ;)

You're right. We need to cherish folks.
Heroes comes on this week?!!!!!! When? I have been waiting for this forever.

You're right about getting true friendships on track. I have recently (happily) learned this. Fabric diet? Good luck with that, hehe. Heroes! Woohoo!

Good luck with the diet!!

Glad your mom is ok!

I'm glad to see that you have a healthy perspective as it's the thing that keeps us going. Although, I think we will be hearing in a couple of weeks that you purchased some fabric or yarn (yarn is yet to be fabric, lol).

Glad to hear that your mom is okay!
Second - I understand the fabric diet...I am 23 days without a fabric purchase...some days it's easy to not think about it and some days...I am hiding the credit cards! However, there is NO way I could go 100 days...we would have to commit me!!! *LOL* So good luck with the diet.

I'm glad that your mom is OK & I whole-heartedly agree with you about mending those broken friendships that are worth mending. Reading your post made me think of an old friend that I really don't see or talk to much lately. I think I'll give her a call.
I'm not on a fabric diet, but I am on a shoe-buying diet! I'm trying to organize my house and decided to start with my room.....AUGH!! I counted over 90 pairs of shoes when I took the picture and I'm still finding some......at work, in my truck & at the gym! So I fell ya pain & stay skrong, LOL!

I agree, life is much to short for funny acting people. I actually wrote a post on this yesterday that I will eventually post. Of course I will let you know when it's posted.
Yep, that's how fast life happens concerning your mom. It surprised me when I read where you typed it on Twitter. You have to believe Aleida is in a much better place, she probably feels bad for the ones she left behind.
Okay, now I'm rambling.

So sorry about your friend's passing...it can be difficult. And I'm glad your mom is okay!
I'm totally going on a yarn diet! I have so many skeins of yarn and so many projects, yet I keep bringing the stuff home! it's ridiculous!

I am glad that your mom is OK. Praise the Lord!
Speaking of praise, thanks for your compliment RE: my pictures. Now, it's time for you to share some pics from your recent shoots! I've been waiting for you to share!!! ;)

So, you're not going to make xmas dresses for your girls? Or, do you already have the fabric for that?
Posted by: Nicole | September 22, 2008 at 02:28 PM
Adrienne, I totally agree. And..what, may I ask, is the no fabric buying countdown about? Are you crazy?????!!!! LOL! I did the Heroe's thing when it first came out, and by the end of the first season I was so disappointed, like ....Ok, so who's saving the world? WTH is going on???? LOL
Posted by: Kim Brown | September 22, 2008 at 03:10 PM
I'm very sorry to hear about your friend's passing. And I'm with you on the funny actin' folks - who needs it!! If you like me, great, if not, move along. LOL!

Glad your mom is okay. We have been there, done that here. Good luck with that fabric diet. I need to put myself on several of those. Patterned paper, clear stamps and stickles immediately come to mind. Especially since it seems I do more shopping than cropping lately.

Gurl I am still on my yarn limitation purchase too, but not to the extreme of your fabric! :o)
U have a great week too! Mine WILL BE fab!! ;o)

Glad your mom is okay and u r so right...life is entirely too short to deal with funny actin' people!!!! Good Luck on that diet of yours. I am cheering u on...no more fabric...no more fabric...no more fabric!!! LOL!!!!

I'm so glad your Mom is alright. I'm totally agree with you about friendships. I've dealt with the same thing last year and I'm dealing with a little of it now and I totally agree that life it too short for funny acting folks. I was so sad last week about Aleida, but I thought about all the funny emails we sent each other and I've saved some of them and they make me smile, she was such a special person, I'll never forget her. It's weird how people that you've never met in person can affect you, KWIM?

I'm so glad your Mom is ok! That is really scary too. I've had so called friend in the past too. Life really is too short to waste.
Good Luck on the Fabric diet. I'm on a yarn diet until I knit most of the stuff in the stash! ;)

I'm sorry to hear of your friend's passing, and am glad that your Mom is OK. We've also been there recently - anything can happen so quickly.

Wise words, thanks for reminding us.
I'm just watching heroes 2 on DVD now so no Season 3 spoilers on you blog, OK?!!

I feel the same as you about life and friendships. I cherish my love ones, having deep affection for them.
Fabric diet, I need to be on one! lol I'm still doing inventory. Compare to last Spring, I've accummulated In additional bin of fabric, but at the same time I've sewn quite a bit this summer. Oh well.
Posted by: Cennetta | September 24, 2008 at 12:54 PM
Hey, glad your mom is ok! Glad you THINK you can keep from buying anything other than vacation fabric :-). By the way, where is this Gail K place you keep talking about?
And for the record, you're right about the friends thing. And having said that, I wish we still talked like we use to. But I know that "life happens" and sometime circumstances change. But I hope you know, I still consider you a dear friend of mine. Love ya!
Posted by: Dawn Bibbs | September 24, 2008 at 05:14 PM
A fabric diet! I need that too! Since I've been having less and less time to myself and for sewing I've been feeling the urge for buying fabric... And I'm reaching the limits! Really! LOL!
