How about a little throw back??? Remember this one?!?!?
How about a little "What Not To Wear"?
LOL Enter in Vogue 1056...
While this is an EXTREMELY beautiful dress....it does NOT look good on me. SERIOUSLY. When I put it on for Tony he told me to take that shit off lol. I look like I was going to play football lol. NOT A GOOD LOOK. This type sleeve and neckline does NOTHING for me.
Will I put it on for you guys? HELL NO lol. I look a hot mess...TRUST ME ON THAT ONE LOL.
You can read a full review HERE.
I have not liked my last few sewing projects. AT ALL. Do you guys go through that too? I mean I hardly ever read of something not working out for folks, so I guess they are just perfect sewers lol. Everything they make WORKS lol. That ain't me lol.
I started on my jacket M 5193 and it is going BEAUTIFULLY!!! So I am hoping the bad sewing ju-ju is gone lol. I have to add the lining and I will be done. I did some topstitching and made it a LITTLE different from the pattern but I LOVE the changes I made!!! I hope to review it on Monday.
Counting down the days until the kids get out of my house go to school. We are ALL very excited and VERY ready!!!
OH, look what I finally got in the mail. Thank goodness for kind, kind, friends that live on the other side of the water! Thank you so much Tany!!! I'm loving it!
I have still been going to the Dr's every couple of weeks, and when I went the other day, my iron was SOOOOO low. They gave me a new iron tablet and ummm it has made me break out so bad. UGH. Hate it, but I have to take them so oh well.
My first 5k is in a few short weeks and I'm so excited about it!! I was going through my mail yesterday and saw this:
I am SO signing up!! I never knew how much I would actually love running!!! Tony said he will come with me to this one and bring the kids since it's also a fun run!! So yay!!!!
Ummm what else? I guess that is it! LOL Hope you all have a super fabulous weekend!! I know I plan on it! Last wedding until September 20th!
Toodles!!
Damn, sorry about the dress! But yay about the jacket! Isn't it good that guys will cut to the chase and tell you how they really feel?

It sucks that the dress didn't work for you. Been there, done that. Did you get a chance to flip through your Vogue? Ah... if only I read Italian.

Gosh I've been away for ages it seems. Sorry that the dress did not work for you, the colour looks great, maybe you can salvage a new top from the skirt part? Good luck in the run!

Keep doing what you gotta do and get plenty of rest!
The 5K run will be great!
I just signed back up for belly dancing and realized just how much I missed and needed it again!!

I am sorry to read this dress did not work for you. I just bought this one!!
I am happy to read that you have had bad sewing ju ju! I have also. I hate it when that happens and really hate that you have had it also but it is nice to know that it is not just me, thus feeling incompetent about my sewing. Reality is some things go well and some things don't!
Posted by: Linda L | August 08, 2008 at 06:33 AM
Tony keeps it REAL....sounds like my husband. Congrats on your first 5K. I just finished my first 5K two months ago. It was such an adrenaline rush! It so neat to have all these people that do not know you cheering and clapping because you crossed the finish line. I really want to run another one.

Sorry about the dress. But hang in there. Your mojo will correct itself. Do you know your body type? I am an inverted triangle.
Sorry about your medication too. I hate when you need something and it gives you a bad reaction but you need it. What can you do right?
Good Luck with the running. I am always impressed with anyone who jogs or does marathons. It's a lot of work and will power. You should be very proud.

First of all I was wondering if Tony could tell us how he really feels about the dress!! LOL
The black issue is wonderful isn't it? Gotta love that!
And uhem..yes all my sewing projects turn out just perfect! : ) Right!

That 'What Not to Wear' made me think that it's almost fall - and time for Black College Football!! And those What Not to Wear posts that you do at the games. Can't wait for 08 season.

Congrats on your upcoming run! You've inspired me to at least think about running this morning, lol. If not, I'll keep my date with Billy Blanks.
I was just listening to Guy the other day. I used to tear up "Goodbye Love." On tape. So you know I had to do a lot of work to keep the song on "repeat."
Did you ever tape your favorite songs three times in a row so you wouldn't have to rewind? Technology has come a long way!
Posted by: carlitadee | August 08, 2008 at 08:40 AM
LOL at you NOT modeling the dress for us!!
Posted by: Jude | August 08, 2008 at 08:53 AM
Bummer about the dress! You are a wonderful seamstress. Everything I've seen here is beautiful on you. I think, no matter the "craft", a less than perfect one sneaks in there sometimes!
Sorry to hear about the iron issue. If you have low iron, I am even more amazed at all you do! I sure hope the new pill works, but that you don't have to stay on it indefinitely.
Posted by: jillian | August 08, 2008 at 09:07 AM
Well the color is pretty. I'm sure you can use the fabric for something else.
Congrats on preparing to run the 5k...That is fabulous..
can't wait to see your finish line photo

Jim will do the same exact thing for me when I'm trying something on that's BAD - no beating around the bush from these guys!!
Yay on the 5K! That is great.
Sorry to hear about the breakouts - can the dermatologist give you something topical to offset it?

Girl you made me holla, when you said Tony said take that shit off. that is so Baptiste. Girl I found that sometimes shit look so good on the mannequin, but not on us....LOL How's Miss Kayla??? When are we going to ichat? LOL

Oh no, I just bought this pattern! Admittedly, I would ordinarily never wear a neckline this high (because I'll feel like I'm being strangled) *but* I need a conservative dress and thought this fit the bill without being dull. I think I'll test it out in some fabric I don't care about first. And I'm ditching the lining. A woven lining in a knit dress? Ugh.

You're welcome! I'm glad you liked the magazine! AND I'm dieing to see that jacket of yours!
Please take care, my friend!

Darn that the dress didn't work for you, and its such a pretty dress. I will readily admit that everything i sew does not always work for me.
Posted by: sheila | August 08, 2008 at 07:36 PM
Oh, I've definitely had those projects that just don't work! (And they still make it into my blog. ;) Hope the 5K goes well, and I saw your mention in the Gorgeous Fabrics newsletter--congrats! (And the dress they showed was beautiful!)

Um, you could sum up my entire month of July with one word: CRAP! I don't mind a wadder here and there, but project after project of loosers really eats away the confidence. Hurray on your first 5K. I use to love to run but now with two toddlers I have no time. Someday...

HI there! Finally getting a chance to get caught up on my blogs! Sounds like you've been having some fun lately! :D Congrats on your firt 5K! So very cool!

A great song, and one of the best videos ever made.
Posted by: don | August 09, 2008 at 02:10 PM
Aw shoot. I hate when I have projects that look good on the form or hanger and like poop on me. :) The jacket sounds promising though!! I can't wait to see it!!
Posted by: angie.a | August 09, 2008 at 06:59 PM
you have me dying...especially the part about your husband saying take that shit off! Too freakin' funny.
Posted by: Lu | August 09, 2008 at 07:58 PM
That's terrible! So many work on that project (they all require) and it's not wearable at the end...
I am sorry for that happen, better projects will come, for sure!

Adrienne - I think we all have things that don't work...some people choose not to show them, that's all. In my case, I sew so many TNTs that my failure rate is low...probably why I sew so many TNTs!!! *LOL*

I know how you feel when something does not work out. Once, I made a dress from the Project Runway series for Simplicity and when I put it on, it looked as though I was going to go and milk the cows. It may not have been that serious, but I cried my heart out. That may have been the third garment in a row that did now work - IN THE SAME MONTH. Just kind of got to me. Anyway good luck with your 5k along with everything else you have going on. OH and I like the new picture. Cute haircut and quite snazzy.

LOL @ Tony's comment! Good luck on the run!

Love the new icon. Good luck with the run!
[Have you tried Japanese sewing books? The patterns are all in Japanese but are simple to follow if you can sew... I'll email you a link soon.]

Shame about the dress! After a while (when you are as old as me..lol) you just know if something is not going to suit you before you start. With that dress there is no decalage (spell??) showing, which I think suits you. With that style unless you have a long neck it will look a bit funny - and broader shoulders would just make it worse. Hope the jacket keeps behaving itself!!
Posted by: vicki_hks | August 10, 2008 at 07:34 PM
Just another thought - since you won't wear it as is, why not try and change the neckline to a scoop or Vneck? Then see if you like it. Maybe a low scoop that is gathered into a band?
Posted by: vicki_hks | August 10, 2008 at 07:37 PM
I loooooooove this dress! It is so beautiful! I am sorry you don't like it on you... yet? Maybe try it on again in a month and see if it strikes your fancy? What a great job you did putting it together. Very designer!
Posted by: Antoinette | August 10, 2008 at 11:17 PM
.... was I supposed to be laughing about you, tony and the 'Linebacker' dress.... if so, GOOD! If not... by bad!! hahahaaaaaaaaa.
Now that you have the Vogue, What did you think?
Posted by: MsMica | August 12, 2008 at 11:44 AM
Okay girlfriend, spill. What was the problem with the dress? I'm seriously contemplating making this, but I need to know how it looks on a real woman with a bust. Should I bother?
