Here is my storyboard for the Mini Wardrobe Contest Fall Edition lol.
You can click it to make it larger.
My main piece is New Look 6803 View D
I've been a fan of Tory Burch for a while. I love this style tunic:
But I do NOT like the price lol. I call that an "inspiration piece" lol.
I think that pairing the tunic with my next piece will work out well.
I was looking around on the net to find a pair of pants. I KNEW I wanted something that would fit in the hip but with a wide leg and cuff.
I had these pants in mind:
Vogue 1051 View B. Was what I found. I will do these in a lightweight denim. I am umm kinda scared to make my first pair of vogue pants, but I will make a muslin FIRST lol.
I saw this picture on another site a couple weeks ago:
When I tell you I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with this entire look! I really wanted to find a way to incorporate this into my wardrobe.
Enter in the infamous Built by Wendy top lol. Simplicity 4112 I think everyone has made this top...except me lol. I'm going to do it in a stretch white cotton sateen lol. I think it's going to work very well with the vogue pants.
I also NEEDED another skirt in my life lol. I have a TON of dresses but not enough skirts. I looooove this style skirt:
But not that long, and certainly not that price. So I found Vogue 7910 view A would give me the same look. I'm going to do it in a khaki silk so the drape should be fantastic.
Ahhh and I LOVE dresses....that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone lol. I just want to make this one because I LOVE the neckline lol Vogue 1056. This one will be made in a matte jersey. I am going to make the sleeves different though. I THINK I'm going to do a 3/4 sleeves with no elastic. We will see lol.
Well there you have it. Let's hope I can stick with it lol. Thanks to my peeps for all your help! I about broke the keypad on my phone last night lol I appreciate it! ;-)
Toodles!
I love the tunic and pants! How are you girlie?? I'm coming back to the blog world!

These are great picks. I especially love the Vogue dress. I haven't found one on sale yet but plan to make that for fall/winter as well. I can't wait to see how all these sew up!
Posted by: Amanda S. | July 26, 2008 at 08:18 AM
Your fabric choices are fantastic! Can't wait to see the garments for real.
Posted by: Dana | July 26, 2008 at 08:20 AM
I love the look, especially the idea of using the light weight denim for the pants. I think denim gets a bad rap by not being dressy, but your pants will have nice crisp dressy look and can be worn in the office as well as a night out.

I've got a couple of vintage embroidery transfers that I've always thought would be great for a Tory Burch type tunic if it interests you. I love her too - but yeah, pricey. Here's the link:

Great wardrobe! I'm most curious to see how the dress turns out, because that is on my wish-list, too.
(Wish-List means I'm mailing a list to a friend who is going to the States in august and I hope he gets it at the local JoAnn... :o) )

LOVE the tunic "inspiration piece" - yours is going to be even prettier! I like the pants too. That style always works on me in RTW. Let me know how that muslin works out on that one. I still want to make that new Simplicity pants pattern with the curvy fit, LOL.

I survived Disney, again!!! Your wardrobe looks fantastic!!! I am really lovin' the tunic.. I am hoping my skills will be good enough to make a few fall skirts and jumpers for the girls....I hate reading patterns
Posted by: karenj | July 29, 2008 at 11:30 PM
your collection is going to be fantastic!
Posted by: Kim | July 30, 2008 at 11:05 AM
I love everything about your storyboard!!!! I got the tracing pencil from www.Clotilde.com I also have one that is 1/4 inch. If you trace on paper I think it is really nice. I did not put the seam allowances on the skirt to get practice with the tracing wheel so I will update the blog when I do that.
Girl I love that McCalls pattern for the ruffle blouse that you showed me! I had to snatch that one up on Ebay because Aug 7th is too long to wait for a McCalls sale! Between the two of them I should get my shirt!
Posted by: Shawnta | July 31, 2008 at 09:57 AM

I love all of your fabric choices and patterns. They are perfect for you. But I think we can only enter 4 garments in the mini wardrobe contest. I'm leaving out a dress, but will make it anyway and just not enter it.
