Hello there!!!! Ok, let's start shall we? LOL.
My first BWOF. I did it. I had a lot of reservations about trying these patterns, then I made this one. While it wasn't difficult (I picked a pretty easy one lol) when I finished it I was not happy with it. I walked away and came back, and now I really like it!!!
And one with the jacket closed....
Jaelyn was a little off on her camera game today, but still pretty good for an 11 year old.
This is more than likely how I will wear this. I love the look with a jacket. I think I MIGHT make this again, in a knit this time. I took a chance and used a charmeuse. The pattern calls for knit fabrics only but I really wanted a silky-type tie front blouse. I made my muslin first to make sure it would be okay using a NON-KNIT. Everything was fine, so I continued. I did french seams for the first time and it was NOT hard!!! It took forever because the fabric was slippery but for the most part I really enjoyed making this top. It is my first BWOF but it will NOT be my last. Thanks everyone for all the encouragement while I was doing this! LOL
I promised some cool linkage, so here we go.
Check out this post about Ravelry and blogging....what do YOU think???
How about this REALLY cool MINI COBBLESTONE!?!?!?
A couple of my scrapping buddies are wanting to learn to knit....I rounded up some great links. Maybe you guys can use them too!
How about some scrapbooking. Ok, I am SURE by now you guys have seen the new cover of Creating Keepsakes Magazine.
This does NOT look like a "typical scrapbook magazine" Try Domino even Blueprint. I mean look at it lol. NOT a scrapbooking magazine. Now, this is a great marketing trick. MORE people will pick this up, thinking that it's not a scrapbook mag. But that is just what I think.
Y'all should know by now that I am SO Not into scrapbooking kits anymore. I used to get SO MANY, it was insane. Now, I avoid them like the PLAGUE, but in case any of YOU are looking for some....Here are some that I think are awesome. :-)
The TOP one on my list (if I was going to get a kit, OR design for someone lol)
Noel Mignon HER KITS ROCK! Just PACKED. I have been SO good at not giving in to temptation...but it has been a HARD THING TO DO! LOL
The Scarlet Lime *gasp*
Scrapologie *sigh, swoon* Their presentation is SUPERB. I mean, you can HATE the kit, and still want to get it because of the way they present it.
Little Red Scrapbook This is one kit that I can say, I have liked since the beginning. Of course some kit's may not be your taste, but they have a really good design team, and they always work the kits. Seriously.
Jenni Bowlin I think I just like her products lol.
**NO ONE ASKED ME TO PLACE THESE HERE, THIS IS JUST MY OPINION**
I have been scrapping, but I am submitting some, so they shall not be seen yet lol.
Lastly lol...I will leave you with this Caramel Lattee Recipe
I made this the other day because I am now HOOKED on Panera Bread Coffee. IMHO, it is SO much better than Starbucks, AND it's cheaper. Dang, now I want one!!! LOL
Ok, back to the recipe....I kinda made it like it said, but I kinda did my own thing lol. Instead of using evaporated milk I used 2% milk and instead of using instant coffee, I brewed my own.
IT WAS VERY GOOD!!!!! I even added whip cream to top it off!!! Try it!
Ok, that is it guys!!! I have a great knitting interview for you guys tomorrow!!!
Toodles!
the blouse is fierce!!! your sewing skills are through the roof!( but you already know that...) thanks for keeping me posted with all of the great links! btw the holiday bread from panera is off the hook!
happy knitting... and sewing!

I've heard of some bloggers quitting their blogs due to Ravelry, but I agree, the blog is totally different than Ravelry. I LOVE Ravelry, but I love my blog, too.
The jacket is adorable! Great job.

Very nice blouse! Gald you stuck with it!
Yeah I have been hearing about the deaths of blogs...but it really just depends upon the "purpose" & desire of your blog. Definitely to each their own.
I have seen some laid to rest, and have seen those who don't blog love Ravelry and now we can keep up with those knitters and their projects...so it works both ways!
Have you seen the "women's" version of the cobblestone!? Made me almost want to CO! Haha!
OOh I didn't know about those other 2 "knit help" links.

Girl I love Panera bread, and guess what, I get to bring my laptop. Free wi-fi baby. I love their soups in a bread bowl. They have the best darned french bread this side of the Mississippi....LOL
Girl you look hot in that gold blouse, JACKET OPEN ALL THE WAY....lol
I was peeping CK's new look too, and I said the same thing. It's all about the marketing strategy. Looks just like Blueprint magazine if you ask me....LOL

Adreinne!! I *heart* you...lol!
ok, so first off thanks for the Panera coffee tip. our Panera is right across the street from Starbucks, so I will zip in their instead and give it a try!
secondly, I'm putting down my scrapbooking for a week or so to make all my boys 2 pair of pj bottoms. I'm so excited! I haven't sewn for about 2 years and can't wait to get back into it.
and lastly...of course this is the first month I let my CK sub run out and they come out with a cover like that?! What am I missing??? Now I might have to go buy it.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Love the blouse it looks good on you. CK is very clever because at first glance the magazine definitely does not look like a scrapbooking magazine. I was toying with renewing my subscription, now they have me curious on whats to come.

Your blouse is chic, the color looks great on you! Those shoes aren't too shabby either, GURL! I'm covetin'!
Posted by: sheila | November 20, 2007 at 10:05 AM
Yes, I definitely agree with some of your previous commenters re: ravelry being the end of blogging. I like to blog as a way to speak my mind (or at least that is how I have been feeling lately) and post pics and have it be a diary of sorts...so I doubt it will end my blogging. Some other people have pretty much stopped blogging since ravelry hit.

Hey A,
Great job on the blouse!@ Good advice too, walk away and try it again...gotta try that one! :) Thanks for the links and you all have a great Thanksgiving! Enjoy!

I think Ravelry and my blog serve very different functions, for me at least. But my blog is not solely a knitting blog either. I love Ravelry, but I use it more as an information resource than anything else.
I love the BWOF blouse. The color is just beautiful on you!
Posted by: robin | November 20, 2007 at 10:47 AM
Why can't I be sitting at panera right now?!! lol Sly dogs over @ Creating Keepsakes, they better try something to get that old dog up & going again. Sorry, did I say that in my out loud voice?!! lol

Nice blouse. Great links! I'm still going through some of them.
Posted by: Jeanine | November 20, 2007 at 03:49 PM
I'm so glad you were brave enough to just jump in and make this blouse out of a non stretch fabric. I really like it this way. Did you have to make it slightly bigger to compensate for the non stretch fabric?
Posted by: Val | November 20, 2007 at 04:30 PM
Beautiful blouse. Yesterday I finally subscribed to Burda magazine. Thanks for the links. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks for the links! Your blouse looks FAB!
Posted by: Larjmarj | November 20, 2007 at 07:51 PM
I need that blouse!!! When you tire of it, I'll gladly take it off your hands. ;)
And I agree on the new CK mag. Definitely looks more hip, which will sell more copies on the newsstand vs. a layout. Those marketing folks know their schtuff.

Hello Adrienne! I'm sorry for not leaving a note all week. I've had to be away from blogs and blogging this week. How have you been?
Your blouse is gorgeous and I'm so excited because I bought the issue through Ebay last week and when I received it I thought, of I'll start with that blouse! Your turned out so classy and it is making me want to make it real soon!
Take care and have a great weekend! Hope your Thanksgiving was a good one. Thinking of you!
