Is your volume up? What were you doing when THAT song came out!?!? 198????? ROFLOL!!!!
I'm going to play and old school song on Friday's. Maybe not EVERY Friday, but I will see what I can do! lol...too much fun!
Ok...my girl Lu is like the self portrait Queen. Seriously. She does THE best ones I have seen. She posted some the other day and it inspired me soooo I decided to give it a go....I needed some more anyway :-) (excuse the hair....I was au-natural this day...i.e...no flat iron lol)
Here is Number 1:
Now I do like this, but the light was too harsh...so naahhh. So avoid harsh light if you don't want shadows like the ones I have...tee hee lol
Settings: ISO 200
Shutter Speed: 1/2000
F-stop: 1.8
Lens: 50mm 1.8
SOOC
Number 2:
My settings were all over the place...but they kinda stayed all in the same area if that makes ANY sense...I used about 5 different actions on this to get this look. "I" like it. Still has the shadows but I STILL like it.
Number 3:
And this one lol....I think I used 2 different actions...
I love this one and it will be on a LO VERY soon.
Number 4:
and another one that is SOOC (no actions used)
Of course I have a folder full of them but I will NOT put them all here! LOL
Speaking of Lu she is also doing an Art Slam Art Journal. I "SO" want to try this....Hmmmmm lol
In other news...I FINALLY sewed!! YAY! I have been doing all this reading and I want to try out some of this stuff. You won't get better without practice right? lol But first...let me show you my newest collection...
And another shot? :-)
You know I love pictures!!
Anyway, I have Sewing Specialty Fabrics, Sewing with Knits,Tailoring, More Sewing for the Home, Quilting by Machine, and Creative Sewing Ideas.
I got a FANTASTIC deal on ebay....$35.00 FOR ALL SIX BOOKS! Talk about a great deal. I looked them up individually and they were well over 40 bucks each! JACKPOT!!!
These books are great. The projects are dated...BUT the pictures and techniques are FANTASTIC!!!!
So what am I sewing??? I am ALMOST finished with Butterick 5038 which is done in the black and white eyelet from Gorgeous Things. Butterick 4812 View A which is done in a light pink/peachy linen. And Simplicity 3744 which is done in a beautiful blue black and white flower print that I got from Fashionista Fabrics. I posted pics of those fabrics with the patterns on my July 23 entry.
Well, that is it for me guys! Have a great weekend!
Toodles!!!!!
Well, I was dancing at my wedding with my girlfriends to this song!!! I like the last pic of you. You're a busy sewing bee--I've got to get my mojo back for it and get going it before August is done. How's Kayla?

Your self portraits are wonderful! Ironically, I am attempting to learn about actions in photoshop. Right now, I have no idea what I am doing. And, do you post photos onto your blog directly from iPhoto? I'm curious. When I do so, they do not look so great. So I've been exporting them from iPhoto into a separate photo and it seems to work better.
I really do need a neighbor like you. You could teach me all sorts of things!

Well, lets' see, I was in the 7th grade, so not much at all, LOL!!!! Great pics!!!! She inspired me to take some of those pics, too. I guess that I should post them. Have a great weekend!!!!!

Wonderful pics!! Enjoy your weekend.
Love, Isolde

NO, you did not put up Da BUTT!!! I am dying! For that harsh sun, try putting it to your back over your shoulder and backlight yourself. Try that with harsh sun portraits. I am still trying to master this! Aren't self-portraits fun?!

I love the singer books. I have one , can't remember the exact title of it, but I love the great detailed pics. I just bought a sewing book by Readers Digest that is absolutely amazing. Maybe I'll post about it soon.

I love, love, love your self-portraits! You may want to join the project 365 in Flickr. It's a fun way to force yourself to take a self-portrait every day for an entire year! :)

What!!! I definitely had a big ol' butt...I think it was 1987 the year before my daughter was born....lol. What an awesome sewing collection - a young lady at work gave me some of her Mom's old sewing books and I was so moved by it (her mom died 5 years ago) and like your collection the fashion is dated but great techniques.

love the music! I was in college when this came out. I even had a Doin'da butt sweat shirt! And I love the movie School Daze!
Posted by: kimt | August 06, 2007 at 10:11 AM
I'm dating myself here, but I remember doing da butt at high school dances and loving Spike Lee movies. Those were da days!
I love you self portraits. I did a whole month in June, it was very introspective. I might do them quarterly. My favorite pic is number 4. You look so reflective and the angle is perfect. Great job!
Enjoy the week!
