How many times have you heard the saying, "It's the small things that count?". I tell you it really is.
This weeks Inspirational Wednesday Interview was with none other than Susan B. Anderson, author of Itty Bitty Hats. Click her name to check out her blog and click HERE to visit her online store.
I purchased this book maybe a couple of weeks ago. I promise you, this is ALL I want to knit ok? I do NOT have babies, nor do I have any small babies in my family, not that I would knit for (parents wouldn't appreciate it) so I'm making baby stuff for my photography clients....I get a great baby photo, with a beautiful baby in a very cute hat, and the parents get to keep the hat. Done! Here is my first finished hat. It seriously took me FOUR hours to complete. I couldn't just sit and knit for four hours, I was up and down, doing stuff at home, that kinda thing...But I kept track of my time!
and the inside...loved to watch the colors change....
THE DETAILS:
Date Started: Sunday June 3rd
Date Finished: Sunday June 3rd
Yarn: Berroco Touche
Measurements: 6-12 months
This hat was SO much fun. This was my first time doing stripes and I am SO hooked. I LOVE the way the color changed!!!! I loved this hat SO much I went to the yarn store on Monday to get some blue yarn for a blue hat. I do believe I will go back and get every color Touche they have. There are a LOT more hats out of this book that I want to make...NOT to mention matching booties! Have you seen the pattern? Check it out HERE.
Here are a few of Susan's Favorite Sites.... Go check 'em out!
I went ahead and "gifted" this hat yesterday. This was intended to be
for one of my clients, but while I was at work yesterday, a little girl
came in to do a commercial for Ronald McDonald House. She is a 18 month
old cancer patient. CUTE AS PIE!!! I was showing the hat to one of my
co-workers and she said, pretty pink hat!! She was soooo excited, and
just too cute! Then she said, keep baldie warm! (she had no hair) I
asked her if she would like the pretty pink hat, and she said mommy pink hat? Her mom looked at me and I nodded to let her know it was fine. She went
home with a pretty pink hat to keep baldie warm! Not only was her mom
happy, but so was the little girl. Her name is Rebecca. I'm glad I was
able to make Rebecca and her mom happy. Yes, I had a different purpose
in mind, but ask me if I regret giving Rebecca the pretty pink hat? Not
one bit. That one little act of kindness, made Rebecca's day. And it
made her mom smile. Her mom and I exchanged email addresses and we
emailed for a LONG time last night. This is one tough little girl, and she has been through a lot. I am so glad I was able to make this little girl happy. Before her mom and I talked, I had NO idea what she had been through. I could have easily been selfish and kept the hat for my client, but no. That is not the kind of person that I am. Anyone that knows me can tell you that. I am just happier than you know that I was able to make this little girl smile.
Alright guys! That's it for me! Have a great IW!
Toodles!
That hat is way too cute! If only I knew of a baby to knit one for. And now I will have to go check out another on line store! Thanks for enabling my yarn habit!

LOVE IW today!
Because I love making baby stuff as well! And do not have one child in sight of me! LOL
I MUST make that baby hat. Can you believe I have yet to make a hat! Now I have done baby booties! :o)
That was very sweet of you giving the hat to Rebecca, I would have had NO regrets either. God already knew who you were supposed to give that too!
In fact, one of the community knittings I want to do by year end is knit hats for chemo patients or anyone that is bald. I didn't think about the kids at Ronald McDonald House or a Children's Hospital! That will be THREE passions joined together - knitting, kids stuff, and helping those boost their self-esteem!
BTW - what two colors did you use on the 1st half in Berroco?
I am going to check out Susan's book!

Really cute hat and touching story. It makes you feel good to see someone happy. You did it in four hours too! Wow! It's a good feeling to get a project done isn't it?
Keep up the good work and I can't wait to see more of your projects.

IW was great today! I've been eyeballing Itty Bitty Hats for a few months now, because I have a lot of friends pregnant right now. After listening to the interview, I will definitely pick this one up. Oh, and will be purchasing Itty Bitty Nursery. Hopefully, and God-willing, I will be expecting in a few years.
The hat you made is just adorable! And the fact you gifted it unselfishly is really a BLESSING!! I can't tell you how much that inspires others!! I'm extremely proud of you and keep showing us the wonderful person you are!!

Ahh see why did you have to go and make my eyes tear up...and I'm at work as well, reading blogs and work crying!
That was a really nice jesture....so question would you think about making them and selling them? I would love to put in a order for a 24 month size but with extra wide head for all the hair my little one has.
Not sure if you want to go down this road with orders and billing etc but just thought I would ask.
Oh by the way where do you work? You said "a little girl came in to do a commercial for Ronald McDonald House"?

The hat is so cute, and yeah, I knew you would give it to her!! You are so sweet, and you will probably never know just how much that meant to her and her mom. My niece was hospitalized for a long time, and my sis in law STILL remembers the acts of kindness, like what you did, 8 years later! :)

First time I've listened to your podcast--you have such a cute voice! If that isn't inspiration enough to knit baby hats, I don't know what is, giving that little girl your hat for her baldie, how precious!! We truly know how blessed we are when we hear stories like that! Good deed, Adrienne!
