Ok knitters.....this girl needs some help. I finished up my Cami but guess what? It is TOO BIG. Now, I took this in to my LYS to get help finding gauge, and we got it. But WHY am I swimming in my tank?!!?? I am going to post a pic of it probably on Wednesday but this has me FRUSTRATED, and SCARED. I am going to rip out my fitted knits turtleneck and get gauge on it again, JUST to be sure. I do NOT want to knit garments that are TOO BIG that I can NOT wear. Ok, any tips? Advice?????
So how was your weekend? Aside from the aforementioned, mine was great. Lot's of food, TONS of family, and an overall good time. I didn't have my camera most of the time, because I just wanted to enjoy myself....
But I did manage to get a FEW pics....
This has to be my favorite of my mom and dad.....this pic says SO much. I liked it so much, I came home after church and printed it out for them. They loved it!
and here is one of my mom...
Now, I got to church before she did, so instead of her walking up to me saying, "goodmorning" she goes, this is my Barrie Pace outfit. HA! I laughed. If you guys think "I" like to shop....spend a few days with my mom, the apple does not fall far from the tree, lol.
Here are some of the kids, during the egg hunt festivities....
Aj seems to LOVE having Christmas bags for Easter. lol, he had a Christmas bag last year lol
and little miss priss....
Love this one of my dad begging for the kids eggs lol
Aj did NOT want to share his lol......
Here is one of Tony and the kids....
and one of me and the kiddos....
Then the good stuff lol.....
They had a BLAST on the 4wheelers....
One thing they love about my parents house is all the room. They can ride for DAYS. I will NOT tell you how FILTHY my bathtub was when they finished taking baths last night. OMG.
This one LOVES the camera.....
see, told ya...Kayla is a MESS!
But the camera loves her too lol.....
Look at those curls....
It took me FOREVER to do her hair. She only wears her hair down and straightened, MAYBE twice a year lol
And the oldest Jaelyn...who will QUICKLY let you know she IS the oldest even though she is SMALL....
and all at once lol....
And hubby keeping an eye on the kiddos.....when I finished taking some pics, I went BACK into the house lol
Well guys that's a wrap. Very relaxing weekend! Hope you all had a good one! Now....it's back to the weekly grind lol
Aw. Wonderful family pics. Geez, your mom could be your sister. She looks amazing.

Now you have me all concerned about my shell garment! I have a feeling mine may end up too big too! Shoot! Let me know how it goes w/ the cami!

Your mom is beautiful and looks like such a classy, stylish lady! Everyone is so cute and photogenic!
Don't worry on the fitting - I will help you. I think I finally figured this out for myself, so we'll figure it out together for you. You have a head start as you are used to sewing for yourself, so you have a familiarity with your shape that someone who doesn't sew might not have.

Now for the Cami...I feel your pain!! I started my wrap sweater and realized I was reading the pattern incorrectly....so guess what I spent my Friday Night doing? You guessed it...frogging about 16 rows...it wasn't too bad, but I made up for it on Sunday night!!! Hope you get the Cami fixed so you can wear it!!

Your mother is gorgous! It looks like you had a wonderful Easter weekend.
I answered your question regarding my turtleneck on the comments section of that post. :) I also wanted to add that I had to make three swatches before I got gauge. Do you wash and block your swatches before measuring your gauge? Also, even if it is off by a 1/4 of a stitch, it can make a big difference in your finished garment. What I like to do if I am having trouble obtaining gauge is to take that gauge I do have and divide it by the stitch count for the different sizes. Sometimes I can get the size I want with my own gauge by knitting a different size on the pattern. Hope that this helps! :)

They look so cute. Are all those 4-wheelers yours girl? You must have one big-ole garage....LOL
Also, I feel you on the hair thing. It took me 2 hours to straighten Jaree's, because her hair is super-duper curly. I thought my arm was going to fall off.
Your kids are gorgeous and your parents look so suave girl!
Loved your suit!

My gauge is different when I knit in the round then it is when I knit flat. Have you checked that? I also get a different gauge when I use addi turbos then when I use bamboo. So be sure your gauge is in the needles you plan to use for the project.
I also want to say thank you to you and Toya the knitting book came today.
Thank you!!

Just a thought, the folks at your LYS are human too and they make errors, they have been known to get gauge wrong too. Ask podcaster Wendy from Knitty D and The City, I think it happened to her twice at Rosie's Yarn Cellar. Also, some knitting patterns will give you the desired gauge then when you look at the schematics and multiply the number of stitches per inch by the number of inches in the piece - they don't even match. As a creator of fine clothing, sometimes you are going to have to overrule the pattern and do what makes the most sense to you.

Hi! I wandered over here from Robin's blog. Your photographs are beautiful!
As for the cami/gauge question -- I've had my share of gauge troubles too. I've found that sometimes my gauge changes from swatch to actual project, so it's a good idea to check your gauge periodically as you go. I've also found that even when I get gauge, some patterns have more ease in them than I'd like or looks flattering on me. Negative ease has been turned out to be my friend! LOL
Good luck figuring it out! I love that cami pattern. I hope you can make it work!
