The Great Coat Sew Along

Let's talk coats lol.
I can't begin to tell you how excited I am about making my first coats....I PROMISE you it better be cold this winter or I will be sweating in my coats! LOL

I got my fabric yesterday from Gorgeous Things. I swear I love Ann's fabrics lol. I think you all know that lol.
My jaw literally dropped when I opened my bag:

This picture is straight out of the camera. The color is dead on. It is just gorgeous!! The twill is the coat, and the charmeuse is the lining.
This will hopefully become:

Butterick 4665 View C

I don't know if I showed this one but this is the lipstick red flannel coating I got from Ann last year lol.

Another one straight out of camera. This fabric is STUNNING.

Hopefully it will become:

Vogue 8438 View A

I still need to get a lining for this one. I don't know if I should try and match the red, do a plain black, or find a pretty print.

Any suggestions?

The only thing I have to do now is purchase my interfacing and buttons for both jackets!

YAY!

In other sewing news, I did a little sewing over the last couple of days so I will hopefully show you guys my finished items tomorrow

In scrapping news, I have done a few LO's and I will post those as well before the week is out.

In knitting news, I will start a KAL this weekend lol. More on that later lol.

The Great Coat Sew-Along

I took the plunge and joined The Great Coat Sew-Along that Marji has started up. wanted to make a coat last year and never got around to it.  Well, this was the perfect opportunity to "get it done".

I am SO very excited about making my first coat. I have already been planning for my fall wardrobe so this is just right on time lol. I know it's not even summer yet but hey lol.

I am planning on making two coats. I might possibly add in a third (lighter weight jacket) but that has yet to be decided....I have a few more days to make up my mind lol.

First up is Vogue 8438

I'm making view a out of a lipstick red Flannel coating I purchased from Gorgeous Fabrics last year.

I also want to make Butterick 4665

I want to make view c. I thought about making it black but I already have a black rtw coat in my closet.  so I might go for a colbalt blue ;-) I'll decide on that a little bit later lol.

So there you have it. I'm super excited about my first coat, my first sew-along and all the techniques I am sure to learn!!
