I don't know WHY I can't seem to do these posts on Monday's lol. Seems like it is ALWAYS a Tuesday!! LOL
ANYWAY LOL
I decided VERY last minute to do a 5K Run/ FUnwalk with my mom. WHEEWWW. I did NOT condition myself like the last time. Trust me when I tell you I PAID FOR IT lol. I finished in 46 minutes lol. NOT BAD...but I had fun lol.
Kayla tried to keep up with me but ummm...nerp lol
Kayla couldn't make it to the finish line lol
I got my mom strolling across the finish line....
There was a live band there to keep the runner/walkers motivated and I asked them to say Happy Birthday to Jaelyn lol...She was like mommmm how did they know! LOL
Love this one of my mom cheering Jaelyn on lol. She SMOKED those kids lol.
When Jaelyn finished she laid out across the table lol.
Kayla was running too lol
Jaelyn couldn't decide if she wanted me to cook her a bday dinner or if she wanted to go out...once she FINALLY decided what she wanted we headed over to O'Charley's lol.
I loved watching Aj read about everything! Especially when he got to the big words he didn't understand. He would try and sound it out then ask for help. :-)
Then the kids did a little rock climbing lol.
All in all it was a great weekend! LOL
Now, Im trying to get back in the swing of things! LOL This month has been ubber busy and it's not even over yet! LOL
The home decor bug has bitten me...more on that later! LOL
TALK ABOUT AMAZING!!!! I finished in 33 minutes!!!!!! The first person finished in 13 minutes!! WHAT A RUNNER HE WAS!!!!
Yesterday Tony and I spent the day together, I took the camera with me, took some pics (that I will probably post Monday) decided to come home and charge the camera so he could get some good pics of me this morning....grabbed the camera threw it in my bag...took it out once we got there posed for a pic.NOTHING lol. Tell me why I left the battery plugged up on the floor!??! LOL
That's okay. No pics but I have my runners number which was 89 so that shall become a scrapbook page.
My goal this time was to just FINISH. I'd been running between a mile and two miles three days a week to get ready. If it rained I would run on the treadmill and if I didn't run, I would work out on the elliptical machine. I want to be in the top 20 when I run in October. And every race after that, I want to move up 10 places until I come in first! THAT is my goal!!!
Ok, that's all lol. I feel so good right now and I'm so proud of myself !!! Now to go and do something creative before I take the kids to a birthday party this evening!
While this is an EXTREMELY beautiful dress....it does NOT look good on me. SERIOUSLY. When I put it on for Tony he told me to take that shit off lol. I look like I was going to play football lol. NOT A GOOD LOOK. This type sleeve and neckline does NOTHING for me.
Will I put it on for you guys? HELL NO lol. I look a hot mess...TRUST ME ON THAT ONE LOL.
I have not liked my last few sewing projects. AT ALL. Do you guys go through that too? I mean I hardly ever read of something not working out for folks, so I guess they are just perfect sewers lol. Everything they make WORKS lol. That ain't me lol.
I started on my jacket M 5193 and it is going BEAUTIFULLY!!! So I am hoping the bad sewing ju-ju is gone lol. I have to add the lining and I will be done. I did some topstitching and made it a LITTLE different from the pattern but I LOVE the changes I made!!! I hope to review it on Monday.
Counting down the days until the kids get out of my house go to school. We are ALL very excited and VERY ready!!!
OH, look what I finally got in the mail. Thank goodness for kind, kind, friends that live on the other side of the water! Thank you so much Tany!!! I'm loving it!
I have still been going to the Dr's every couple of weeks, and when I went the other day, my iron was SOOOOO low. They gave me a new iron tablet and ummm it has made me break out so bad. UGH. Hate it, but I have to take them so oh well.
My first 5k is in a few short weeks and I'm so excited about it!! I was going through my mail yesterday and saw this:
I am SO signing up!! I never knew how much I would actually love running!!! Tony said he will come with me to this one and bring the kids since it's also a fun run!! So yay!!!!
Ummm what else? I guess that is it! LOL
Hope you all have a super fabulous weekend!! I know I plan on it! Last wedding until September 20th!
I was talking with a good friend yesterday and we started talking about this song lol. I could NOT get it out of my head lol.
Have you guys had a good week!? I have. Looking forward to the weekend though! LOL
For all the knitters lookieeeeeeeeeeeeee:
and a close up...love my point and shoot lol
See, I HAVE been knitting. I have more progress than this. I think I took this ummmm a couple days ago. Stacey said we were knitting with dental floss...she was right lol. I am still going to have to start over ONE more time...my tension is really off when I purl......
Here is the recipe for the vanilla icecream. I got this from my grandma who said this was the way her mom made it.
3 cups sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt 5 eggs, beaten 2 tablespoons plus 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/2 cup flour 6 1/4 cups milk 5 cups whipping cream
Combine sugar, flour and salt in saucepan. gradually Stir in milk. Cook over medium heat approximately 15 minutes or until thickened, stirring constantly.
Gradually stir about 1 cup of hot mixture into the beaten eggs. Add egg mixture to remaining hot mixture, stirring constantly. Cook 1 minute; remove from heat.
Refrigerate 2 hours. Combine whipping cream and vanilla in a large bowl. Add chilled mixture, stirring with wire wisk to combine.
Thats when the recipe says to turn the crank until frozen lol....well I plugged my icecream maker up lol.
I also made a couple of apple pies:
YUM. I made one for home and two for a friend who would seriously forget she knows me if I don't make her two pies when I make one, so she ALWAYS gets one lol. I used the recipe of some great, great great aunt or something lol. It has been passed down forever and I will give it to my girls when it's time.
While on the subject of cooking, I cooked THE BEST shrimp and grits last night. OMG
and a close up...
OMG...even looking at it now is making me hungry again. Talk about good. I had a serious case of the "itis" Had to take the kids out to play at the park once we got up lol. Here is the recipe:
Bring
first 4 ingredients to a boil in a medium saucepan; gradually whisk in
grits; reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, 10 minutes or
until thickened; add cheddar cheese and next 4 ingredients; set aside
but keep warm.
Cook bacon in a large
skillet until crisp; remove bacon and drain on paper towels, reserve 1
tablespoon of drippings in skillet; crumble bacon and set aside.
Sprinkle shrimp with pepper and salt; dredge in flour.
Saute
mushrooms in hot drippings in skillet 5 minutes, or until tender; add
green onions and saute 2 minutes; add shrimp and garlic and saute 2
minutes or until shrimp are lightly brown; stir in chicken broth, lemon
juice and hot sauce and cook 2 more minutes, stirring to loosen browned
bits from skillet.
Divide grits into
4 large, shallow soup bowls; divide shrimp mixture into four servings
and place on top of grits; top each serving with crumbled bacon and
serve with lemon wedges.
There you have it. I will probably grill some salmon and veggies this weekend lol. As of right now, I don't feel like cooking lol. Hmm we shall see lol.
I am SO devouring Twilight!!!! WHY did I wait so long to read this book!?!?!?!?? I don't know what to make of Edward yet. I'm on chapter 7. I wish I could just sit down and read it all day!!!!! I plan on finishing it before Monday so we will see lol.
OH!!! I haven't talked much about me running, trying to get ready for my 5k but I will do my first one in August!!! I can't wait! I'm up to almost 2 miles a day now and I no longer feel like I am going to DIE when I finish lol.
Guess what? And no I am NOT pregnant lol. Hubby and I are about to start working with a personal trainer!! We are going to start running. VERY slowly at first mind you lol. But I think this will be good for us. We already do a lot together, why not get healthy together? We've talked about this for a while, but never really made good on it until now. I want us to STAY healthy. I am hoping this will be something we can keep up and are not just excited about it because it's new. Our trainer told us about this site Couch to 5k to look at so we could see what we will be doing, and how we will build up our stamina. While exploring the above site, I found THIS SITE. This guy has developed podcasts to help with the running process. I am trying not to listen until I actually get started. I have to get something to run in (a trip to the Nike store) and some running shoes. Because I have NONE. If all goes well. I want my start date to be Monday, November 12th.
Are any of you runners? What is your routine? If you don't want to comment here, you can always email me!
I am still celebrating my birthday! LOL I will do a full birthday update tomorrow!
