I learned to swim as a child but not the traditional way. My dad threw my brother and I in the Warrior River and told us to have fun lol. My mom about stroked out so she made SURE to put us in swim classes after that.
After that incident she wanted to make sure we knew how to swim. We did great in the river. It was natural to both of us, thankfully.
Swimming is my favorite thing. It's my favorite type of exercise. It's the ONE thing that I can do and totally forget about anything and everything that's on my mind. I HAVE to focus on breathing. It's necessary. I listen to my breathing, I count my breaths. The higher my count goes it seems like the better I feel.
Before I realize it, the timer on my watch has gone off and I've reached my goal of 108 laps.
My mind is clear. I feel renewed. I'm focused and ready to face whatever is ahead. I'm also starving at this point lol
I took this picture on 9-3-13. It was the last day that the outdoor pool would be open. That's aways sad because I LOVE swimming so much but the indoor pool is my favorite because it's open all year long :)
Other than prayer, this is my favorite thing to do in order to clear my mind.
Before this date, I hadn't been swimming in a few weeks. I've been so busy.
I was walking around the house and I kept saying...I need to go swim. I need to swim. I need to swim. I stopped EVERYTHING. Didn't cook dinner, didn't check that last email, didnt' respond to that last text message.
I took a long swim.
So very glad I did.
What do you do to clear your mind?
