New Look 6000...A Review

I told y'all this was gonna be a review week lol. I was SO not kidding lol

New Look 6000

Pattern Description: Misses' retro style dress with front, sleeve and neck variations. I made view C

Pattern Sizing:
4-16

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? VERY easy. The pleats on the side confused me for a few minutes but once I walked away and came back they made plenty of sense lol.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I fell in love with this style pattern a few months back and I'm just not getting around to making it. I've made a LOT of garments this year and this HAS to be my favorite.


Fabric Used: RPL Tropical Wool from Gorgeous Fabrics. I THINK it's very similar to THIS. The actual name of mine was " All you need is RPL-Black" I purchased this is 2010 lol.


Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? As much as I love this dress I don't think I'm going to make it again. This LBD will last me a VERY long time. I highly recommend it though.

Conclusion: I can't say enough about this pattern. I LOVE it. If you like this style HURRY and grab it.

Ok, on with the review...

Y'all know I love ALL things sparkly and when I saw this fabric a few months back I HAD to have it!! No. Really I did lol. My next sequin item will be some leggings lol. YES leggings lol.

Simplicity 1776

Pattern Description: Misses'/Miss petite lined A-line dress has square or jewel neckline, short or 3/4 sleeve options and pocket variations.

Pattern Sizing: 12-20 I made the 12

YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? Very

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved this A Line style for the fabric I had in mind.


Fabric Used: Velvet backed sequin


Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I cut the back on the fold so I wouldn't have to worry about putting in a zipper. This fabric had enough stretch for me to slip it over my head. I didn't do any finishing on it. I just made sure it was cut super straight. I didn't add any facings.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I like this style but I don't know if I'll make it again. I do recommend it if you like this style. My machine hated this fabric. I ended up using a denim needle and it sewed up like a dream.

Conclusion:  Great simple pattern to showcase some traffic stopping fabric. I got a TON of compliments on this at the function I was attending!

Vogue 1314...A Review

Vogue 1314

Pattern Description: Pullover, close-fitting, lined dress has draped sides and narrow hem.

Pattern Sizing:6-14
This pattern runs large. I went down a size. I think I could have made the 10 and gotten away with it.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? Very easy.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved the ruching on it.


Fabric Used: Sweater knit


Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I didn't line it. My fabric was thick enough that I didn't need to.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I doubt if I sew this one again. I absolutely hate gathers but I highly recommend it. It's VERY easy and took no time at all.

Conclusion: Great pattern!

It's MONDAY!

Did you all have a good holiday? We did. SO much food but super good stuff lol.

I had this whole long post planned out but over the weekend I lost EVERYTHING on my computer. The GOOD thing is I have it all backed up online, it's just taking a LONG time to get it back to where it was. I can go ahead and get my pics but its a HUGE hassle so y'all get a post with no pictures lol.

Carbonite.com is THE BOMB and worth EVERY red cent. SERIOUSLY. No they didn't pay me to say that it's just the truth lol

There has been SO much sewing going on. WOOHOOO I know I have atleast 3 patterns to review for you guys, no wait...4. Maybe 5 lol. Yeah I'm behind on my reviews lol.

I also have some GREAT news that I won't share right now but I'm having to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming lol. (NO I"M NOT PREGNANT LOL)

I found out yesterday that THREE people in my church are pregnant and all due around the same time. One lady is pregnant with twins!!! WHOAAAAAAAAAAA lol. Its about to be a lotta babies lol

My week is about to be JAMMED packed. I lost a LOT of time Saturday fooling around with this dumb computer so now I gotta play catch up. But instead of "working" or getting my schedule together, I'm blogging lol. Makes sense though right? LOL

I need this to be a good mail week. I'm waiting on client fabric to come in and I need it NOW.

Can I just park here a minute and tell yall how much I absolutely LOVE sewing for others? It amazes me that I love it as much as I do. Like I can hardly believe it myself.

Im not overwhelmed. I have set business hours and I do NOT work past those lol. Sewing for others allows me to be even more creative and it continues to build my skill. I'm doing things I've NEVER had to do on myself but I can do them and do them extremely well. I'm proud of me lol

Oh well I guess that's enough. Even though it's almost midnight I'm sitting here drinking water. Probably not a good idea lol

Just a little rambling...

I was really undecided about what to put up today. I still have a few items I've made that I could put up...

Or I could talk about what I'm doing next...

Then it hit me.

It's almost Thanksgiving.

Where has the year gone!?

This time last year we didn't even have a kitchen to cook in. Didn't matter. I didn't cry or have a come apart. I've learned to be thankful ALL year long. NOT just on one day.

THIS year however it's even more special to me.

My family has it's health and strength.

I have a kitchen to cook in (and baby its going to go DOWN LOL)

Even though life is happening we are all doing well.

I've gotten closer to God than I have EVER been. Truly leaning and depending on each and every part of the Word.

My business is doing wonderfully. Never in a MILLION years would I have thought that I would be sewing for others AND LOVING IT lol.

I know I'm just rambling but I'm super thankful y'all.

I TRULY am.

From my family to yours have a very Happy Thanksgiving :)

Soooooooo it's safe to say that I'm SUPER in love with this blouse. I'm trying REAL hard not to make it again but life just wouldn't be right without a printed version in my closet... right? LOL

The top is Vogue 8815 (yes again) done in a sweater knit and a pencil skirt using the same Simplcity pattern I've used for YEARS when I need a quick simple pencil skirt lol

I had so much fun sewing this! As much as I LOVE to sew and make my own clothes, I've developed another love for sewing my own clothes. I can't EVEN describe it lol.

Kayla has been my photographer and she is doing an excellent job! Hats off to the 13 year old! LOL

I am in LOVE with this print. It won't go away ANY time soon lol. I just purchased a wool jacket in it...I want to MAKE a light weight jacket in it lol andddddddddddd some skinny pants lol. See OBSESSED.

I am also obsessed with BOWS. YES BOWS. It is CRAZY!

Many of you who have been reading for a long time know my next door neighbor Cheryl. These are her kids. The smallest little girl in this picture is Sydney. She is 8 or 9 years old. She was in what they consider a diabetic coma with her sugar over 700. Her sugar is coming down but she is still critical. Please, please pray for her. For her entire family.

This isn't something I always do, but when God prompts me, I do it.

I'm asking for donations for this sweet family. She has no idea that I'm doing this but I'd love for all of us to be a blessing to this family. Any amount will help.

YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? SUPER easy.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I'm in love with ALL things "bow" and this was just a no brainer for me. I loved this dress when I first saw it.


Fabric Used: Taffeta


Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I didn't add the pockets.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I doubt if I will make this view again but I love the darts and pleats on the dress so I MIGHT make another view. If you love this style grab it.

Conclusion: This pattern was very well drafted. It went together without any problems. If you like this style dress, grab it.

These are my DIY shoes. It took FOREVER but I added all the crystals to it. I want to fill in the entire heel. I didn't have enough crystals so I had to improvise lol
