The only thing I did different was added black beans inside. SO GOOD. I doubled the recipe and it was enough for leftovers.

• I've been SO busy. The next month is just whew. Might not really get a break until the kids get back in school lol

• SLEEPY.

• My day just got THAT much more busy. O_O

• I was looking forward to Saturday but I'll be gone all day. Sunday? All day as well. No rest this week/weekend.

• I'm doing alterations on a dress for my cousin. I HATE alterations but she was in a bind. Like a serious one and I love her so that helps a ton lol.

• It's midnight. I need to be in bed. I have to get up at 5:15.

• I ran HARD this week. Man. SUPER busy week. Like SUPER BUSY.

• Tuesday I'm gonna VEG OUT. I am not lifting ONE finger.

• It's Tuesday and I didn't veg out lol

• Gizmo smells good.

• Carbonite is THE bomb. Seriously.

• It's 12:22. Let me go to BED.

• O_O

• I hate computer issues.

• I really don't like a whole lot of platform on my shoes. pass.

• I just cleaned my closet/dresser drawers. WOW.

• Typepad is TRIPPING! UGH. It keeps eating my posts.

Butterick 5744...A Review

 

Butterick 5744

Pattern Description: Lined, pullover dress has single-layer flounce (wrong side shows), fitted, mock wrap bodice with slightly blouson back, front snap, elasticized (seamed) waist, and side pockets. Very narrow hems. B: front overlay. C: Skirt is cut on crosswise grain of fabric. A and C: self belt.

I made view C without the ruffle.

Pattern Sizing: 14-22


Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? Very easy.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Loved everything about it.


Fabric Used: Challis


Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I'm not sure about making this one again. Maybe, but there are SOOOO many other patterns I want to make lol.

Conclusion: Great dress. VERY simple. Very well drafted. It has an elastic waist but I still wanted a belt. I don't think it was secure in this pic though lol

The ONLY thing will do differently next time is use a soy sauce with less sodium. I had a little left over the next day for lunch and it was SUPER salty. It was NOT salty when I was eating it but that next day...whew lol.

McCall's 6558

Pattern Description: Pullover tops and dresses have elasticized neck/raised (seamed) waist, and narrow hem. A and B: sleeveless. B: applied hem ruffle. A and C: purchased trim. C and D: front and back extend into sleeve (wrong side may show). D: side slits and purchased trim for shoulder strap.

I made view B without the bottom ruffle.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? They looked easy. I just glanced over them.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved everything about this pattern.


Fabric Used: Jersey Knit

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I do plan on making this again but a differerent view.

Conclusion: This pattern was super easy to make. The knit I used I've had in my stash forever but it was perfect. It is SO soft. I love that I can dress this up or down. It's a great dress.

When I took this picture I forgot to put my belt on lol sooooo...

THIS is how I actually wore it lol. I *LOVE* this fabric. Seriously. I've had it for a couple years and knew this pattern would be perfect. I didn't have enough fabric for the entire dress so I had to make a quick decision to make the top solid white. It almost looks like I'm wearing a tank and a skirt lol. I got SO many compliments on my cute "skirt" lol.

Took a little road trip fabric shopping with my mom and I fell in LOVE with this fabric. I didn't get it because it had black dye/ink spots ALL through it. I was sick :(

Been doing a LOT of swimming. My hair will probably be in a bun forever lol

The whole family gets in on the action. Kayla is the best swimmer in the group. I often let her swim with me in 12ft. She loves that lol

Hump Day Ramblings

• My entire body hurts lol. Boot camp was fun but WOW.

• Saying you love and appreciate someone and showing them that is two TOTALLY different things.

• My heart is heavy. Blogger friend husband passed away. Keeping the family in my prayers. 

• I want a grilled shrimp salad. SO BAD. Gotta make that happen.

• Right this very second my house is a total mess and laundry is everywhere. Dirty laundry. And a lot of it.

• I need new towels.

• I don't like milk. Period.

• I found some good smoothie recipes but they require some form of dairy. I don't like that lol.

• I love to cook. I really do.

• Speaking of, it's time to start on my July menu.

• Did I say my house is a mess? Yeah. Seriously.

• 45 days.

• Im learning to never say what I won't do.

• I need to return a library book and pick a couple up.

• I could have knocked all of Jaelyn's teeth out the other day then realized how much I paid for them to be that straight and thought better of it.

• My girls love shoes. Wonder where they got that from?

• Aj hates to shop. He really does.

• I'm excited about turning 35 this year. I want to do something totally girly. I'm excited. I kinda know what I want to do but it's inviting people that has me kinda O_O. I can't invite everyone but I don't want anyone to feel left out lol.

• I'm tired.

• I feel like I have to drive every few hours. This is getting old QUICK.

• I want to go swimming. Hmmmm.

• I need a manicure.

• My email is insane. I don't know WHY it's so hard to keep up with it.

• I'm addicted to "buying" free ebooks. The kindle app on my ipad is every single thing.

• I don't care for the nook app that much.

• Kindle needs to have a way to organize books lol.

• I was gonna say something and forgot.

• God presented me with an amazing opportunity. Obedience is better than sacrifice. 

• My dinner was SO good. Whew.

Let me tell you. I HATE MAYO. Like SERIOUSLY HATE IT. You could NOT taste it in this dish. I made enough for leftovers and it was ALL GONE THE SAME DAY! It was SO good, like you couldn't stop eating it and you are full good lol.

I was going through my email the other day and saw this dress:

Preen One Shoulder Dress I mean how gorgeous is this? Priced over $1000.00 NO WAY lol. I think I loved the color more than anything. The back is super sexy

but I wasn't going for that look lol. Here is my version:

I've made this dress before and I still love it.

The clutch is Vogue 8527. I made that one last year?? LOL

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I probably will make this one again when I'm wanting another one shoulder dress. I HIGHLY recommend this pattern if you like this style. It is very well drafted.

Conclusion: Great dress!

Petite Lasagnas

I ran out of mozzarella cheese lol. oops!

I don't think I will EVER make traditional lasagna again. The serving size is perfect. The clean up is SO easy and I'm wondering if you can maybe make these a day ahead and pop them in the oven the next day? Im not sure though. It might make the wonton too soggy. Just a thought though.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I will sew a different view of this dress again. I highly recommend it.

Conclusion: Great pattern. If you like this style dress go for it.I thought working with lace would be hard, but it was very easy. It's just like any other fabric. I've wanted a lace dress for a while so when I saw this fabric I knew exactly what it was going to become.

Took this one with my camera phone lol. Since I was all neutral, I used an orange clutch I have to provide a pop of color. LOVE this dress and my clutch lol
