No I haven't read the series and probably won't, but so glad you reviewed the movie because my DH & I debated on seeing this movie, now we will wait for Netflix to get it! Thank you!

That's exactly how I felt about the third book. When will this be over. I found myself skipping parts of it just to see what happened. I havent seen the first movie yet but I think the third book will make the best moviebecause of all the pods and stuff. It just wasn't a great book.

I saw the movie first and was disappointed. I could tell that the movie had eliminated key parts of the book. So I bought the trilogy from Amazon and had basically the same experience you had. Loved the first book, couldn't believe how awesome the second book was and slowly read my way through the third. I think because the third book is about the uprising and subsequent war and how war takes a toll on the participants, that made it such a slow and thoughtful read. Anyway I loved the trilogy and by reading the books found out what I was missing in the movie. It is a good adaptation but not a GREAT one!

Loved them all. Definitely took me a longer time to read the third book, and it was more science-fictiony (yeah, I made that up) than the others, but I loved the way the series ended. I enjoyed the entire trilogy.

Haven't seen the movie. Might, might not.

I started reading the series on Friday and just finished the 3rd book this morning. I'm with you- liked the 1st, LOVED the 2nd, semi-liked the 3rd. I'm still feeling a little disturbed by the content but, overall, I'm really glad I read them. Is it just me, but did Katniss start to get on your nerves mid-way through 2. I wanted to kick her to the curve and get Peeta a new love.

Have you read 32 Candles by Ernessa Carter? If not, I highly recommend.

i had/have a love/hate relationship with the books. they are a riveting story, but i hated that innocents were killed. i would hate a world with no regard for human life (at least as blatant as it was in the books). and katniss did get on my nerves, she was not always likable. glad i read them, but not sure whether i'll see the movie. and i hated all the sadness at the end of #3.

I loved them, too! My favorite part was the very last chapter of the 3rd book. Though I must say my favorite character in all the books (and the movie) was Cinna.

The movie was well done, though I thought of Katniss in the books as far more motivated than she was portrayed in the movies.

I'd like to read them again, except I've loaned my copies out...

Love the new family portrait!

I haven't yet seen the film and possibly not likely to as I much prefer book versions usually.
I liked each succeeding book less than the one prior but I think that was due to overload (thank YOU for free wireless delivery at 3am Amazon Whispernet!).
But yes, by the end, I was also wishing Katniss would just get over herself!
So I'll probably go back and re-read them soon just to absorb content I might have missed in my reading frenzy and to have another think about whether I really liked them or not.

I haven't seen or read them yet but they're on my Goodreads "To Read" shelf. I probably wouldn't see the movie before I read the books -- books are always waaaaaay better.

Thanks for the recommendation on both the books and the movie.

I have to agree with you on every point except I saw the movie first so I had no expectations about what would be covered/left out from the book. I enjoyed it and decided to purchase the books thru my Kindle app. I read this series in a week! I couldn't put them down.....like fa' real! I have to agree that the 2nd book was my favorite and the 3rd book was very sad. I found myself continuously saying or thinking "when will these two catch a break?" I'm compiling a list of 'books to read' myself and browsed your list of 'books read' for suggestions.

That third book was mucked up! I wanted it to be over already! I Was MORE than glad to reach the last page. Could I have a happy moment? Somewhere on those pages, just an ounce of cheer? Wow!

The movie was Hunger Games Lite. That is all. The book had more layers and depth.

I thought it was well written. I'm sorry I was all O_o when you told me to read it. I remember saying to you, "Uh, that doesn't sound interesting." I was VERY wrong. It was well worth reading. :)

I have not read the series but I want to. During this school break, I have Tananarive Due's latest book to read so I may tackle Hunger Games in August.
