• I'm STILL addicted to pinterest.

• I want to dress like I'm 34. Not like I'm 50. Not like I'm 21.

• Gizmo is FUNNY.

• I've cried a LOT today.

• The kids are counting down till spring break.

• I'm glad my sewing mojo is back.

• I want sew more "inspired pieces" than oh thats a cute pattern sewing lol. If that makes sense.

• I made a thanksgiving dinner sunday. Totally made up for the fact that I couldn't cook over the holidays.

• My red velvet cake was horrible lol. I STILL don't know what I did to it lol.Y'all know I've been making this cake for YEARS...

• I just took my meds. They knock me SLAP out.

• I need to plan our family Memorial Day vacation... uhh. Yeah

• Someone who shall REMAIN NAMELESS has me shopping lol

• I need to find something quick for dinner.

• I had THE best nap today.

• I need my nails done. ASAP.

• Momma said I had to feel better so I can go with her to Hancock lol. Oooook lol

• Tony is excited about the Godfather lol. 

• I need to have our taxes done. First time we are having an accountant do it. I'm putting it off :/

Vogue 1282...A Pattern Review

 

Vogue 1282

3 Yards of Fabric

 

Pattern Description: Loose-fitting, bias, pullover top has draped front neckline with weight, no side seams and stitched hem. Very close-fitting, below waist pull-on skirt has elastic waist with contrast facing, pleats, front extending to side back, no side seams and right side back slit. Self bias binding finishes hem.

Pattern Sizing: 12-20


Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

Yes, pretty much.

 
Were the instructions easy to follow? They were typical Vogue instructions. The only thing that confused me was making the tucks on the front of the skirt but that may have been because I was tired.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love cowl neck anything. That is what first got my attention, but I loved the details of the skirt.


Fabric Used: Rayon Jersey for the top & stretch cotton sateen for the skirt.


Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: This top is WAY too low cut for me, so I sewed up about 3 inches more than what was required. The armscye was WAY low. Like super duper low. I sewed a two inch dart under the arm to fix that. I also cut about 4 inches off the skirt. It hit me a little below my calf and that was not a good look. I'm 5'5 so if you are taller than me, you will probably be fine.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I won't sew this one again. I threw the pattern away once I was done with it. It's OK and I wore it with a cardigan. I've made better cowl neck tops but I did like the way it was constructed. I'd love to see someone else make it.

Conclusion: Just a mediocre pattern for me but this is just MY opinion.

I really do like the back of this skirt. I didn't like it at first but it's growing on me.

It was SUPER windy out but you can kinda see the tucks on the front of the skirt and how I sewed up the front of this top.

It got my mojo going so it wasn't a total waste lol.

Strawberry Valentine Oreo Cookies

MAN!!! These were SO goood. SUPER DUPER DUPER sweet but VERY good. I literally ate ONE whole cookie over two days lol

Ingredients:

Cookies:
1 package of strawberry cake mix
2 eggs
3/4 cup of shortening

Frosting:
8 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
1/2 stick of butter, softened
2 tsp. vanilla
4 c. powdered sugar

Mix together strawberry cake mix, eggs and shortening until well combined. The dough will be pretty thick.

 

 Roll dough into balls, making sure they are all similar in size. Place dough onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 8 minutes.

 Mix together cream cheese, butter, vanilla and powdered sugar until smooth. Spread onto cooled cookies and sandwich together.

 *Makes 12-15 cookies after they are sandwiched together*

Shoes: My top ten THIS week lol.

She has been asking me for THE longest to do a shoe post. Since my closet is literally a mess I decided to show what I've worn this week. It has been a BUSY week. I've had several meetings and yeah it's been BUSY lol. I Thank God for it though lol

 

 

This is literally what the area in front of my closet looks like. Tony has said he was going to BURN my shoes if he tripped over another pair lol. I WILL put them away today lol. Being busy then being sick? Mannnnn I haven't done ANYTHING. I'm not the only one right? LOL

 

 

I do NOT buy sneakers. SERIOUSLY. I have THREE pair. One pair I wear when I take the dog out, one pair I MIGHT wear out somewhere, and these... man I LOVE these. I paid about $90.00 for these and they were worth every red cent!!! They really feel like air. I've had them for uhhh almost 3 years now I think. I got them when they first came out. BEST THING EVER lol.

 

 

Classic black peep toe. Wore these to church Sunday.

 

 

I have fallen in LOVE with these sparkly flats. I have them in this color and black lol. LOVE them lol.

 

 

 

When you have a shoe you love, buy it in two or more colors lol. I still want these in pink lol.

 

 

These have saved me SO many times. ESPECIALLY with the rain Saturday!

 

 

I love these. Seriously.  My momma was like ummm where you going lol. I told her don't hate lol

 

 

I'm starting to fall in love with these. Not really a color I would normally buy but I'm loving them.

 

 

I really thought these were cute. Gave me a little sparkle with my black suit.

 

 

I fell in LOVE with these. We had a ball one day on twitter buying shoes lol. HAD to have them. I was shocked that they are super comfy.

Soul Food, My Walk With God

 

 

Today has been a rough day.  Overwhelmed seems to be an understatement.

Anytime I feel overwhelmed, the scripture comes to mind:

From the end of the earth will I cry unto you, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Psalm 61:2

Today has been a cry unto Him kinda day. Literally.

I know that God has a plan for me. I trust Him to make things alright, but sometimes trusting isn't easy.

I try to keep my eyes on God at all times, and not the situation, but sometimes that isn't easy.

I keep finding myself in this certain situation, and I keep praying and asking God WHAT am I supposed to be learning from this? I KEEP coming back to this exact same thing. How am I supposed to handle this? What am I supposed to be doing or saying that I'm NOT doing and saying?

It's frustrating sometimes and I try my best to keep my eyes on Him and not question what is going on or why.

There are times when I'm just downright upset about the whole thing and I DO ask Him WHY. WHY. WHY. I ask Him to show me what I'm doing wrong or show me what I'm supposed to be doing that I'm NOT doing, and I'm not getting ANY answer.

I know that a delayed answer doesn't mean He isn't listening. I KNOW He hears me and I KNOW He answers my prayers so why isn't He answering this one? I just want an answer. WHY.

Maybe I shouldn't be questioning Him or why He is doing a certain thing?

But I want to know.

Sometimes you get TIRED of taking the same test. I'm ready to move past this but seems like God isn't ready to move me yet?

I don't know. I want to know. I NEED to know WHY I keep going through this same cycle.

I know I've prayed and fasted about it, gotten other people to pray with me and I do believe that God will make it alright...or do I?

Maybe I need to check MY faith?

Maybe I need to check MY motives?

I think they are pure. I really believe they are. I'm not trying to do something because someone else is doing it.

But why do I REALLY want it? WHY am I seeking an answer.

Hmmm.

Now that the tears have dried up, I feel better. Still in the same place but I have peace now. NOTHING has changed. It's STILL the same but change is coming. I know it. The Word says:

The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me...Psalm 138:8

This thing CONCERNS me, so He WILL make it perfect. In His time. I just need to hold on, and keep my eyes on Him.

 I'm not perfect, just striving to be the woman God wants me to be. Keeping my life lined up with the WORD!

Pattern Description: Pullover tops have elastic waist variations, back neck slit, button/thread loop and narrow hem. A: stitching line forms sleeves and purchased trim and bow. B: sleeveless, side panel and flange (On crosswise grain of fabric).

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? SUPER easy. I was confused with attaching the side panel & flange but I believe it was because I was sleepy. When I went to finish it up it was easy lol.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? My daughter loves this style shirt so I knew she would love it when she saw it.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? She has already requested another one so I will be making this again.

Conclusion: Great pattern if you love this style top.

I won't review this skirt because it was literally, two pieces, four darts and a zipper. SUPER easy lol. I actually want to make one for myself lol.

Sometime last year I was on twitter and this patricular day I wasn't "ON" but when I get on of course I can see anyone that has "@" me.

I logged in and saw this:

aunaptural: My FB timeline is full of religious nuts today. For those of you (@3kids1036 ) whose actions are a living testimony, I thank you.

I was like whoaaaaa.

But you know what it showed me?

1.) That my life is TRULY a living testimony.

2.) People are "watching" even when I'm not paying ANY attention.

3.) God has TRULY changed who I am as a person.

I've said it before and I will say it again, IMO being a Christian is a LIFESTYLE. It's NOT just something you call yourself if you attend church on Sunday. Again, That is JUST MY OPINION.

When I gave my life to God, I gave it ALL to Him and started living my life totally according to His Word.

This song pretty much sums it up for me:

yep, HE WANTS IT ALL.

So that's what I gave Him. ALL of me.

Little did "I" know that giving my all to God, would be a blessing to others. I had NO idea.

To be perfectly honest, I wasn't concerend with everyone else. I was concerned with living right. Living according to His Word. That was IT.

This is no power of my own, it's ALL God doing a work in me. I made myself available to HIM and He does the work in me.

I am so thankful for that.

That's it. Just wanted to share that :)

I'm not perfect, just striving to be the woman God wants me to be. Keeping my life lined up with the WORD!

YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? I really didn't follow them. I looked over them and that was about it.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? My daughter loved this style skirt.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? If my daughter wants another one I'll make it, but this is a really unique style.

Conclusion: Very simple skirt. I made it in one sitting.

These are my random thoughts while on pinterest:

• Now you KNOW that won't look good on you.

• I'm going to put this on my "I sew can make that" board, but I really might not have the skill to sew it.

• This looks good. I don't know whats in it or how it's made but I'm going to pin it becuase it LOOKS good.

• I'm going to pin this $1800.00 skirt. I'd NEVER buy this but it's cute!

• Now she KNOW she doesn't need to eat that!

These are OKAY. They have to be cold to be enjoyable. I don't drink soda and these were onsale so I decided to try them. I do love juice so to keep me from drinking too much juice, I'll put 4oz in my cup and a whole can of this and it's like soda but healthier! LOL NO, I'm not a super healthy eater lol. I still to eat, I just do it in moderation. NOT all the time though lol.

 

 

Tony was chillen playing WWF while I was crying in hancock because they didn't have enough of some fabric I wanted. THANKFULLY the other store had it lol.

I thought I had seriously forgotten how to sew lol.

I needed something that was super duper easy so I went with this.

Let's say YAY for my first project of 2012!!! LOL

I've made this dress before here and here it is seriously my go to pattern for this style dress. Works EVERY time.

I was looking for a reason to wear these blue shoes and this was a great one lol.

I have NO idea what kind of fabric this is, it's a little heavier than challis but it has a great deal of stretch to it. *shrugs* I just know I love it lol.

I'm going to keep up with how much fabric I'm using this year.

I thought about listing the cost to make the dress, but I can't remember how much I paid for fabric that has been in my stash forever lol.

Well that's IT, but I'm officially sewing again!! My mojo is super flowing so let's DO this!!

 

15 Years Later...

 

What a milestone!!

So many gave up on us YEARS ago. It amazes me when people tell us they are glad we are still together. Y'all just don't know the story we could tell!

It's amazing how fast time goes by!
