I took this pic the other day but I made this a couple weeks ago.  I'm in need of basic tops without them being tshirts soooooo, look out for more cute throw on tops lol.

Pattern Description: Loose-fitting tops A, B, C, D with front drape gathered into loop, dropped shoulder, seam details and stitched hems. A, B: sleeveless. C, D: short or long kimono type sleeves.

Pattern Sizing: 8-14


Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? Very easy

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I've seen this top in various department stores and I wanted one lol. This pattern was an exact replica.

Fabric Used: Matte Jersey


Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I didn't hem the sleeves. I just made sure they were cut even.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I will make this one again in a couple different colors.

Conclusion: Great not so basic top.

Forgiveness.

Why is it so hard. Why is it so hard to FORGIVE YOURSELF.

God's Grace & Mercy covers us.

But why is it SO hard to forgive ourselves when we do something that we KNOW isn't in God's Will for our lives?

I promise it's the WORST feeling ever. We ask for forgivness, we KNOW that God has forgiven us and will remember our sins no more (Hebrews 10:17) But why can't we forgive ourselves? Why do we STILL feel that guilt.

When I say "WE" I mean "I".

When we do or say things out of the way, WHY can't WE let go and forget about it, accept God's forgiveness, be thankful for His Grace and Mercy and move on?

Here are a few things the bible says about forgiveness:

 1 John 1:9 (King James Version)

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

 

Ephesians 1:6-7 (King James Version)

  To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

  In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

 

Colossians 1:12-14 (King James Version)

  Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

  Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.

 

God sure does know how to keep you on your knees.

Not perfect but striving daily to be the woman that God wants me to be.

Confessions from my sewing room...

I was sitting down thinking the other night about things I can do and don't want to and came up with this little list. Y'all feel free to add your own or do your own post lol.

Should be intersting lol or atleast make you chuckle a little bit.

• I don't like to hem. PERIOD. This is not a secret. I will cheat and use stitch witchery when ever possible.

• I don't know how to do a bound buttonhole.

• I don't know how to do welt pockets.

• I HATE to handsew. 

• Some of the stuff I don't know how to do I have NO DESIRE TO LEARN HOW TO DO. 

• I used to pick hard projects so I could "prove" myself as a sewer. Umm, now I sew what I like and if I learn something along the way, woooohoo lol.

• I'm getting to a point where I don't have to make everything I wear. I'm OK with buying something if I REALLY like it and if the price is good. I don't have to sew everything.

• Let me say that again, I DON'T HAVE TO SEW EVERYTHING!

• I do NOT desire to sew for people. PERIOD. I've gotten to where I don't even LIKE to put my stuff on FB anymore bc my family is asking me to sew for them. Umm NO. I tell them no everytime. NO, NO,NO and NO.

• I used to say I'm not good enough to sew for others. I am, that was just an excuse I think. I just DO NOT WANT TO DO IT. I have NO desire to. I just tell them that now. NO lol.

• As much as I want and have even tried and failed to sew for Tony, I don't really want to. Now he has asked me for a buttondown shirt that STILL isn't finished so I'll finish that and just stick to pj pants. It's easier. And that's fun. Sewing for men is NOT fun. Hellooooo lol.

• I like that I have a few honest folks that will really tell me when something I made looks hideous on me. Just because I THINK it looks good on me isn't always the case lol. I don't like to waste fabric AND time but sometimes it happens lol.

YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? SUPER easy.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved that they included the directions for french seams. If you don't know how to do them, this is a great project to learn!

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I decided not to add the elastic at the waist. I'm going to belt it anyway and I just figured IMO that was a wasted step lol.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I MIGHT make this again in black. I don't have many black tops and this might be a good one.

Conclusion: Really really simple pattern that looks great IMO.

 I wanted to take a pic that was similar to the pattern envelope. I'll be wearing this top to church so it won't be off my shoulders. Now when I wear it somewhere else I WILL wear it like this lol.

This clutch is Vogue 8527 but I'll talk about that in another post.

I thought these earrings and ring were cute :)

For the love of all things, I fell in love with these shoes. I was torn between getting the red or the gold, I think the gold was a superb choice lol. You can't go wrong with a metallic!

 

I gotta get it out...

This will be the only post I do on these storms. There are NO words to describe what I've seen. NO WORDS.

I do know that through all of this distruction, God is ABLE. God will restore. I pray daily for those that lost loved ones and for those that lost every single thing.

Even if the storm didn't hit your neighborhood, I think emotionally, everyone has suffered.

This is the storm that just tore up Alabama. I think it ripped through almost all the counties here. Scary.

Once the storm  passed over my house, when it touched down again, it was NOT far from me. We thought it was over. We went outside, talking to our neighbors. We had NO idea that just a little ways away there was total destruction.

It wasn't until a couple days later when our power came back on that we saw JUST how much damage was done:

There is miles and miles and miles of nothing.

They are still recoverying dead bodies.

It's just soooooo very, very sad.

These pictures are from the area where Tony's mom stays.

My SIL from Atlanta was calling us frantic because she had seen some of the damage on the news and when they called out her moms area, she was way past worried. NO ONE could get in touch with my MIL.

We called and called and called. NOTHING. The radio was urging us NOT to come to the area. We finally found her and thank God she was safe.

Alabama has tornado warnings ALL THE TIME. ALL THE TIME. It's as common as the sun shining. I always take them seriously because I hate bad weather. I do not like it.

I've read and heard SO many stories about this storm. This one here just moved me to pieces. It's long but worth the read if you have the time.

I have no idea how long the clean up and rebuild efforts are going to take. NO idea.

We are doing whatever we can to help whenever we can. We do realize this could have been us. I do NOT take that lightly.
