YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? Super easy. I went through and marked the sections I needed because they jumped around a bit.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Loved it.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I would make this is Jaelyn wanted it again. I do recommend it. Even with the boining and it being lined, it went together very easy and it didn't take much time.

Conclusion: Great pattern and my daughter loved it!

I will have to get another picture of her in it lol. We were rushing and she wasn't finished dressing lol.

 

Hump Day Ramblings....

• I have 3 white dresses, 4 or 5 white skirts/ pants...but WHY do I want a white suit? A white jacket? LOL. I LOVE WHITE.

• I have 3 posts I need to do but I won't do them until I clean out my email lol.

• My eyes are FIXED on this Via Spiga shoe. LAWD.

• My twitter friends are the BEST enablers lol.

• My dinner is SO good. I've had 2nds.

• I'm SO in love with my nephew!!!

• HAHAHAH had a shoe show on twitter. It was HILARIOUS lol.

• Kayla and Aj are about to get POPPED IN THE MOUTH.

• I'm sleepy but I SO need a 2nd wind.

• My sewing mojo is on FIRE!!!!!!!

• I hope to get some scrapping done this weekend.

• My next few weekends are PACKED.

• I love nail polish and lip gloss lol.

• As much as I wanted to reply back, I didn't. That part of my life is over. NEVER to be revisited again. I do wish you all the best though.

• Sometime we want to question God but I'm learning more and more that isn't the way to go. Not for me anyway. I'm learning to Accept What God Allows. Do y'all remember this song!? SANG TWINKIE!!!

• I purged my closet. Put away all my winter clothes and pulled out my spring / summer stuff. I HAVE SOME PRETTY DRESSES YALL!! LOL Amazing what you can forget when stuff is put away for a couple seasons lol.

• My internet was out ALL DAY LONG TODAY. Glad it wasn't something I did lol. They had to fix it on the pole outside lol.

• I cooked one thing but wanted something else lol. Baked fish is THE BOMB. Seriously.

• I had a FIT trying to cut out a skirt. What gives!?

• I'm going accessory shopping! YAY lol. I was going to make a necklace and earrings, but my beads didn't look right... sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

• I have a mirror I look in EVERDAY before I leave the house. I KNOW If I look a mess. Now my STYLE might not be YOUR style, but hotmess is universal.  Some folks need a mirror and new friends.

• I FINALLY got ALL my music back on Itunes! YAY! lol

• I saw a purse I wanted to order (I Just bought a new one and NO I'm so not a purse person. Namebrands do nothing for me) and I said I was going to wait since I JUST ordred one...went back to order it and it was sold out :(

• Why do people think I want my sewing to be a BUSINESS. Umm no. It's a hobby that I love, besides I don't sew well enough to charge people lol.

• My time is JUST that. MINE.

• I had the best sweet tea today. YUM.

• I could eat fish everyday.

• And grilled veggies....everyday.

• And cookies lol. Gotta have balance lol

Vogue 8354

I have these two pics saved on my desktop because I loved the neckline on them.  I wanted to incorporate something like this in my wardrobe and I ran across this Vogue pattern:

This pattern has a little bit of a vintage feel to it without it being TOO vintage if that makes any sense. I've had this pattern FOREVER. It's now OOP.

 

Pattern Description: Scoop neck top has front button closure. A: gathered short sleeve, sleeve facing, purchased belt. B: three-quarter length sleeve, grosgrain ribbon waist tie. Skirt C has waist facing, back zipper closure and back slit.

Pattern Sizing: 14-16


Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes very easy. I read over them before I got started then just glanced over them as I was making the jacket.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love everything about it.


Fabric Used: Poplin for the skirt and pique for the jacket


Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I cut about 4 inches off the skirt. The original skirt length was very unflattering. It hit me right under my calf muscle. YUCK!

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I won't sew this again, but I'm going to wear it out. I love it.  I recommend it if this is your style and if you can find it.

Conclusion: This was a great pattern. I wanted something that I could wear to church and this really fit the bill. IMO.

This fabric is extra special because my mom gave it to me. Well, what actaully happend is she said we were together when she bought it but I don't remember that. She said I didn't like it. Don't remember that either lol. I begged her to let me have this fabric for almost two years. She would NOT budge.She finally took it and cut out whatever pattern she was going to use it for and gave me the left overs lol. Now I have a cute skirt and her stuff is still cut out on her table! LOL

I'm a PROUD Aunt!!

I LOVE this picture of my brother! I can't believe he is a DAD!!! He and Z have a BEAUTIFUL family! I'm praying for them even more than I ever have. I'm SO happy for them!! SOOOO happy. I love them both so much. Z is a wonderful woman. And I'm NOT just saying that. When I met her if I didn't like her ummm EVERYONE would have known lol.

She delivered her new bundle of joy on Friday!! She had a super scary time on Wednesday, she tripped and fell ON her stomach. I prayed and cried ALL the way to the hopsital, but GOD IS IN CONTROL!!

Baby Aiden is here and safe!!

 

This is MY favorite picture for now lol. I took a ton at the hospital but I need to email those to Z before I post them here AND my brother had to give me permission to post these pics lol.

Words can't describe how happy I am for them. Being parents is tough. I'm so glad they have each other. May God bless them as they begin this new chapter of their lives. I pray that God brings them closer and closer together and that they bring up Aiden the best of their abilities!!

Ok, now I'mma go cry! LOL

 

Great weekend & I SCRAPPED!!

Yes I did scrap! LOL We will get to that a little later.

This weekend I took a quick trip to Atlanta...I make that drive SO quick now lol. It's insane lol. I was back home Saturday by 1pm I think, so I was there and gone real quick like lol.

I had lunch with my awesome tweeps lol. I introduced them by their twitter name and my brother was like Oooooooooooooooooook? lol It was too funny lol. YES I know their real names lol.

We had a great lunch at Fox Sports Grill even though they didn't have the nachos Lisa wanted lol.

I left there and did some shopping with the kids...

I acted a plum fool in Gail K fabrics like I ALWAYS do when I go...I buy pretty fabric. I hardly EVER buy fabric with a pattern in mind. It does happen, but not often. I just buy fabric that's pretty and bring it home lol.

Later that evening I had the PLEASURE of meeting the one and only Lady Lee!!! If you click the link you can read her take on our meeting lol. She is HILARIOUS. Meek and mild my booty! LOL

She is SUPER sweet and made me THE BEST COOKIES OOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGG They were SO GOOD. I have a few left and I am NOT sharing. PERIOD. WITH ANYONE lol.

She gave me some super special stuff that is going to GREAT use lol. I had a ball! She doesn't take too many pics and post online but if you look on her a little closely you can see a couple lol.

Nowwwww LadyLee has been a blessing to me. I've said that before but she REALLY has so I wanted to make something for her to encourage her:

It's a really simple Scripture mini album. She loved it. I was soooo glad.

Y'all know I haven't scrapped since I tried to do that mini album of Patrick for Tony. I just couldn't and I stopped scrapping all together. I think this has me to where I want to start again, and I want to work on Patricks album again for Tony.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? This pattern was very close to my inspiration pattern.


High Neck Ruffle Top

Fabric Used: Cotton Voile


Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I added a ruffle to the collar.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I want to make this blouse again. I LOVE it!!! I highly recommend this blouse.

Conclusion: Great patter!!! Very well drafted. A great addition to my wardrobe.

I went with clear buttons because it was hard to match the pink.

I did a rolled hem on all the edges. Took FOREVER, but it was totally worth it.

To make the ruffle, I cut one strip on the fold that was twice the length of the collar and gathered it up so it would fit. I LOVED the outcome. I felt extra girly in this blouse. I LOVE it.

I promise I'm not buying anymore cardigans lol. These were like 4 bucks though. I ordered the girls some too lol.

Hump Day Ramblings....

• My sewing inspiration is on fire. Now if I could only sew as fast as I am inspired lol. Seriously, man, I have SO much I WANT to sew and not enough time to sew it all lol. ONe thing at a time and I STILL need to finish Tony's wearable muslin lol. His real fabric has already shown up lol.

• --- This is SO funny! This is how I feel. I can't WAIT for my weekend. lol.

• I'm about to mark all my blogs read....again lol

• This time change has me TRIPPING. I am excited about the extra light! WOOHOO! Kids stay out playing longer lol.

• I have a headache. I think I've been on the computer long enough.

• Did y'all know I wear glasses? Well I'm SUPPOSED to wear them lol. Only when reading and on the computer...which is pretty much...ALL THE TIME. I gotta do better.

• It's spring break. Let me keep the kids busy and having fun!!!

• I am two days behind on my email. I do good, then I mess up lol.

• Mock wrap anything doesn't look good on me lol. I don't know why I try. My last dress was a FAIL. It's funny how everybody else can like how something looks on you but you don't lol. I didn't like it lol.

• I have some kinda "oil" looking spot UNDER the face of my phone. NO clue how it got there, because my phone has never gotten wet or "oily". Tmobile is sending me a new one.

• I still only have 30 songs on my Ipod lol. Maybe I need to carve out some time to just load my cd's ORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR pay the kids  to do it lol. WHAT? I'm NOT above paying lol.

• Zanete still hasn't had "MY" baby lol.

• I just made my schedule for tomorrow. I HAVE to stick to it. HAVE TO.

• Today was a HARD day to be a parent.

• My nails are a pretty gray...or is it grey? LOL

• I only have two kids woohoo lol. The missing one will be back tomorrow.

Soul Food, My Walk With God

I mentioned starting another "series" on my blog. Well this will be it. I can't go any futher without saying a big huge thank you to two people who have helped me sooooooo much in my new journey. Lady Lee and Serenity.

These two ladies have TRULY blessed me more than I think they can ever know.

I mentioned before that she was one of my new favorite bloggers. At first, it was because of her writing style. I mean sistah can WRITE!!!! Then, the more we talked...ahhhh yes. I am her MAMA! LOL

Seriously though, she has BLESSED ME. She takes time out to answer all these questions I might have and I love that.

I used to hear about Lady Lee and Serenity doing these "workbooks" so I said, next go round I would join in. Little did I know at the time that she was going to do one on her blog.

This is really blessing me. Like really. It's making me think and I'm digging into the scriptures in a way I never have.

Tony and I have totally redicated our lives to God. All we want to do is live a life that's pleasing to Him. We have done a WHOLE lot of changing. Like 360 changes so that our life lines up with the Word.  We are not perfect, we just love God. We are members of a church that was simply LOVE. It's so wonderful to be a part of ministry where we are truly being fed. The kids love it, we love it and we are making ourselves available so that God can use us.

Speaking of, here is a picture that we took for the new members board thingy lol.

 We are so happy about our church home. Soooooooooooo happy lol. Can't stress it enough.

I had someone tell me not long ago that my blog helped them through one of the hardest times in their life. I was floored. And humbled. All I have ever been is me. 

I've always prayed and stuff...gone to church, but never really "changed" if that makes any sense.

I never really had a real relationship with God. I'm learning it's more than just going to church on Sunday. It's a daily walk.

I don't know how often I'll post in this "series" maybe when I learn something new or come across a scripture. Who knows, but when I do get ready I will lol.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I didn't add a zipper.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I might make another view. I love this pattern. It is very well drafted and went together well.

Conclusion: If you are like me and you've had this pattern in your stash FOREVER, take it out and make it up lol. You will be glad you did lol.

I cheated with the hem and used stitch witchery. LOL, I HATE to hem lol.

The caridgan I made from a mans t-shirt. I could NOT find what I was looking for RTW, so I whipped this one up really quick. It still wasn't exactly what I wanted but it worked.

Just a regular mans tshirt...

I tried it on, then had Tony pin it where I told him. I just basically tapered the sleeve.

oops, upside down. I cut it right below the pins then cut it for length.

Cut it down the middle...

Added bias tape to each front edge section, sewed it down, then folded it over and sewed that side down.

 And there ya have it. This was NOT my original idea. I saw it on a blog somewhere. When I find the link again I'll link y'all.

Hump Day Ramblings....

• I've been looking at table lamps. Decisions, decisions.

• I'm making my bedtime NO later than 11pm. Lately I've been going before then lol

• God is soooooo wonderful. I'm so thankful for my walk with Him.

• I'm not going to say ANYTHING, just going to see how long it takes. BUT this will probably be the first AND last time.

• Jaelyn has been doing pretty good driving. She did great until she asked me if she had to stop at the stop sign. O_o

• I marked the majority of my blogs as read lol.

• I've been thinking of doing a meatless meal. Why can't I think of what to do? LOL

• I'm thinking about adding a new "series" to my blog. We will see.

• I had an appointment this morning that I promise you I forgot about. If it wasn't for my google calendar email that I get EVERYMORNING at 5am I would NOT have been there. SERIOUSLY.

• Tony deleted EVERY.SINGLE.SONG.FROM.MY.ITUNES. I wasn't even upset lol. No need to be lol. I was dissapointed, but I shocked myself by not being mad.

• My itunes will be SUPER organized now lol.

• I need to plan my menu for the next couple weeks.

• I need to make either a black skirt and black top OR a black dress. A dress is easier but I'd get more wear out of a skirt.

• I STILL have not made the girls dresses. Yes, they've noticed lol.

• Because of Toy I have started on Tony's shirt that I was supposed to make FOREVER ago lol.

• The socks I have on are TOTALLY worn out, but for some reason I refuse to give them away.

• I don't sleep on pillows. That's just too much in my way when I want to sleep lol. I'll prop up on one and read, but sleep? Nahhh, I'll pass lol.

• My dryer broke about two weeks ago, I kept forgetting to make the appointment to have someone look at it and I've been hanging clothes on a drying rack. I actually ENJOY It!! LOL I KNOWWWWWWWWWW lol. I wash every morning before the kids go to school. Laundry NEVER piles up. I don't think I'm GOING to call them so they can fix it. I even asked Tony for a clothes line outside! LOL

• This is going to be a wonderful mail week. So far I've gotten some new fabric and two extra batteries for my cell phone. I have more fabric on the way, shoes, a charger for those extra batteries and ummm something else lol.

• I don't give up anything for Lent or really celebrate it or any of that stuff.

• I only have 30 songs on my Ipod lol.

• I need to make a Joann's run in the morning. Maybe I can beat the rain?

• This oil in my hair smells SO good.

• I don't drink soda anymore.

• I want to go on another cruise. I LOVE cruises.

• I have a HUGE suprise for the kids but that will have to wait till later. Y'all know I don't tell them ANYTHING lol.

• I'm going to see how long my hair will get. No more cuts. I will have to look back at this blog entry to remember that lol. I have a certain "look" I want. Maybe I need to buy a wig and see if that "look" looks good on me lol.

• I haven't been watching a whole lot of tv.

• I LOVE Pandora on my phone.

• Tony is the best. Me love him long time lol.

Quick & Easy Talipia

I got this recipe from a friend, and I promise you I've made it twice since and I've only had it like ummmm maybe a month. It's SO easy and SOOOO good. The second time I made it I served it over mashed potatoes.  **YUM** the kids LOVE it!

Excuse the pics, I only took them with my cell phone lol

- 4 (4 ounce) fillets tilapia
  - 2 teaspoons butter
  - 1/4 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning TM, or to taste
  - 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt, or to taste
  - 1 lemon, sliced
  - 1 (16 ounce) package frozen cauliflower with broccoli and red pepper

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees F). Grease a 9x13 inch
  baking dish.
  2. Place the tilapia fillets in the bottom of the baking dish and dot
  with butter. Season with Old Bay seasoning and garlic salt. Top each one
  with a slice or two of lemon. Arrange the frozen mixed vegetables around the
  fish, and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  3. Cover the dish and bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven,
  until vegetables are tender and fish flakes easily with a fork.

 

 **The first time I made this, I doubled it and did it just like it was written, the second time I made it I added lime and garlic. OH SO GOOD**

We made strawberry cupcakes for Jaelyn's bday. SO GOOD.

I didn't know what to make of this when I saw it but I tried it anyway and it has been wonderful! I love it!

I got a pretty new bag for all my workbooks and stuff lol

And a new phone case...I think I'm "willing" spring to get here lol

Ahhh Tony suprised me with this! I'm not one of those chicks that gets upset when their man buys them household stuff lol. I couldn't WAIT to use it lol.

Fooling around with pregnant folks will have you fat lol. Zanete had been talking about pancakes from cr.ac.ker ba.rr.el for a week, she called me and asked if Tony and I wanted to join her and andre lol. We were on the way home lol but made a pit stop lol. IT WAS SO GOOD lol.

I finally got a lateral filing cabinet for my sewing patterns! YAY!!! I also organized my stuff and purged lol.

I saved the best for last!

The kids got new bibles with their names on them. They were shocked and suprised lol.
