Garnet Hill Knock off Tshirt

I was doing some blog reading and ran across this post:

I fell in LOVE. How cute is this shirt?

Of course I had to make my own! LOL

I followed the simple instructions she gave to the letter lol

I purchased two tshirts. I got the 10-12 for me to wear, and the 14-16 for me to cut up.

I cut the shirt into strips, then cut those strips into sections.

I took those sections and cut out a "flower type shape". They were NOT perfect lol.

I took those shapes and put some in groups of two, kept some single and did a basting stitch on my machine.

I took them, pulled the top thread to gather them up and then tied the two ends of the thread on the top to secure it.

**TIP** use a contrasting color on the bobbin thread. That will come in handy when you start cutting thread lol<----don't EVEN ask lol.

I hand sewed all those flowers on the tshirt and then sewed the leaves down with my machine and voila! lol

This one has more volume than the original shirt but I like it. The girls are already begging for one lol. I'll make it but we can't wear it all on the same day lol.

I love that this isn't just a "t-shirt". It's a little more jazzy. Has a little "umph" to it!

Tony is home and doing pretty well. We are both getting adjusted to this "new" lifestyle.

We take a class on Wednesday morning and I'm really looking forward to it.  We have both been educating ourselves, knowledge truly is power.

I really want to thank you all for everything.  It's amazing to me how many of y'all really care. It's like we are all apart of this little "family". Blogging has brought some beautiful people into my life and I'm truly thankful for it.

We are trying to get back into somewhat of a normal routine lol.

Hot water tank burst today and my car ran hot lol. Whewwwwwwww instead of crying I just laughed lol.

I was surrounded by the love of my family....all the grandkids were at my house lol

 

Fun times indeed lol. I was glad when everyone went home. Gotta love PEACE! LOL

I have been crafty! LOL well just a little. Needed something to do with my hands. I still need to remove the threads but it's almost done. I'll show a completed pic and a link to the tutorial I found while blog hopping next post.

It's a little jazzy tshirt lol. I really like it and my girls are begging for one too lol

Ok, that's it for me. Gonna be a super busy week.

An update on Tony

Tony had a condition called Ketoacidosis. We had NO idea he was even diabetic until last Thursday, the 19th. He got sick at work, and they called me out there. LONGEST DRIVE EVER, because I had NO clue what was going on.

They said he was type 2 diabetic and sent him home with a pill, instead of insulin.

Pill did NOT work and he developed a horrible rash.

We made it through the weekend (LITERALLY BY THE GRACE OF GOD).

He went to his Dr. on Monday morning, and they were just going to admit him. WRONG.

The "hospitialist"<---- (I love that word lol) came in and saw him and proceeded to scare the crap out of me.

She was in a frenzy to get him to ICU.

When I finally talked to her, she said she's never seen a patient come in, in his condition still alive.

According to his blood work, he wasn't even supposed to be ALIVE.

Tony is now out of ICU and doing very well. I hope to have him home soon.

God is GOOD and I KNOW prayer changes things!!!!!!

(He looks SO much better than this tonight)

I can't even beging t tell y'all how thankful I am for all of the prayers, well wishes, kind thoughts, emails, texts, everything. It truly made the difference. I appreciate yall so much. Your kindness will NEVER EVER be forgotten.

It's that time...

Tennis is like one of THE best ways to exercise. I can't wait.

Hump Day Ramblings...

• It's been great with the kids back in school. I have accomplished so much already lol.

• I've been making skirts for the girls. Nothing for me.

• My table is a MESS. Like a COMPLETE mess.

• GOD IS GOOD!!!

• I saw this car with like SOMUCH STUFF IN IT! OMG. Yes, I took a picture lol.

• Yall comments on the GTFOOH pic had me ROLLING lol.

• I'm counting down. Yes, I know how many days :)

• Did I say my table was a mess?

• Do y'all know we have two turtles? We brought one back from Destin in June lol.

• I saw Eat,  Pray, Love with my girls opening night. It was really good. The cinematography was STUNNING.

• I want a new camera.

• I took a lot away from Eat, Pray, Love. Yes I read the book first.

• I wonder if they are going to make Committed into a movie?

• I have not been sewing for me. WOW. SHut up Carla lol.

• I love our openess.

• I let go.

• Kayla can be a CRYBABY. Goodness.

• I just took two tylenol pm. Imma sleep GOOD!

• I am getting my hair colored in a couple weeks. *EXCITED*

• I'm going to make myself a corset. I've wanted one for the longest.

The Other Family

This book was really amazing. Really made me go wow, in the very beginning. This was my first time reading this authors work but NOT my last.

First day of school pics...Take ONE lol.

Jaelyn and Kayla started school today. Aj starts Monday, so of course I'll post more pics then lol.

Kinda tired of the camera lol.

Hump Day Ramblings.......

• It's been crazy busy for me the past few weeks, and looks like it continue to be that way. God is GOOD.

• Sometimes following your heart isn't a good thing.

• Dinner was SO good tonight.

• I'm ready for my fall TV shows.

• I've been PURGING! I need so many basics lol.

• I'm lusting after a pair of boots I do NOT need lol.

• I feel like I .....  *sigh*

• I haven't purchased any fabric since I organized mine lol.

• I'm ready for Magic City Classic.

• I've read some interesting books lately. Need to post those.

• Planning a trip for my parents and it's driving me INSANE.

• I spent WAY too much on OPI polish, but I got some SUPERB colors!

• If you have to ask more than twice, it's begging. I don't beg.

• Jaelyn has been invited to do some AMAZING things. When I know more I'll let y'all know.  I'm super excited about the posibilites!

• I need to vaccume.

• Chico and Wall-E are HILARIOUS.

• I believe it's in my best interest if I just don't care.

• THE KIDS GO TO SCHOOL TOMORROW! Well Kayla and Jaelyn do. Aj goes on the 16th.

• I need to register Aj for soccer Saturday. Kayla doesn't want to play again this year.

• I have a child in Highschool. Please Lord help me prepare her for the real world. Amen.

• The past couple days I have been SO emotional lol.

• My heart is breaking for one of my dear friends. I hate that life has to be so hard sometimes.

• What's this I hear about cell phone providers taking away unlimited data packages!? DAHELL! I'll go back to a reg cell phone SO QUICK! My data useage is OFF THE CHAINS.  I love the convience, but I have several computers in my house. Humph.

• Can't wait until the outing(s) with my girls this week/weekend lol.

• I need to make a cute top(s) for the above mentioned outings lol

• The kids are SO loud right now.

• I was craving birthday cake on Sunday and went and bought a cake. It was so good. I had one slice and the kids and company we had over killed it lol.

• Mommy + Embroidery Machine = Creativity on back pack straps and lunch boxes O_o.

• *sigh*

Sewing project gone WRONG lol

I don't know WHY I thought this "SHINY" Fabric was a good idea. It SEEMED like a good idea when I saw it. I look a flaming HOT mess!! I literally look like I am on FIYA! lol.

This style looks good on me, just NOT this fabric lol. I also saw where I would need to make some adjustments. I just can't call this a "wearable" muslin lol.

I messed this up a WHILE back. Like May or June and never got around to posting it.

How often do you have a complete fail when you sew?

Got a new kitty!

His name is Wall-E lol. They were giving them away outside of Walmart lol.

My bestest-est buddy ever came by. Got a chance to play with her and the kids lol. Hilarious.

This is what 20+ years of friendship looks like lol. If you can go through it...we have lol.

Went to one of the most fabulous restaurants  for a private party and babbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbyyyy we had TOO much fun for a Monday night lol. Like August 2  Monday night lol.

I can't remember what this drink was but it was SO.DAMN.GOOD.

Fried Grit Balls. Ummhmm. lol

The French Chefs were HILARIOUS.

LAWD! Mrs. Ann was a TRIP and a HALF! LOL. Nothing like a lady selling C.hex toys to make a party lol. Talking abotu FUNNY! LOL

YES!
Were the instructions easy to follow? Super easy.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Jaelyn picked this pattern out EONS ago. I refuse to say how long it's been cut out lol.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I'll make this again if she wants me to but I highly recommend it.

Conclusion: Great pattern.

Pattern Description: Girl's and Girl's plus maxi dress, top, shorts and bolero sewing. Disney's Lizzie McGuire pattern collection.

Pattern Sizing: 8-16. I cut the 10.

Were the instructions easy to follow? I didn't have the instructions lol. I lost them during the 4 months I've had this pattern cut out lol. Oops! LOL

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Kayla loved this pattern so I made it for her. She wanted a Maxi Dress.


Fabric Used: Cotton


Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: The only thing I did different was add piping to the bodice, and bias tape to the edges of the ruffle to break up the print.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I'd only make this again if Kayla wanted it. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Conclusion: Great pattern! Kayla loves it!

July has gone away.

August is here.

It's a new month.

A new day.

A new beginning.

I went to something and this was the label on the bag:

You see the butterfly on the bottom? That's the symbol. It was on everything they gave us.

They talked about how the butterfly is like the universal symbol for change and transformation.

Beautiful.

During some of my "hump day ramblings" I said how I was loving butterflies. Now I love them for a WHOLE different reason.

It was AMAZING to see and be a part of such a beautiful group of women.

To listen to their struggles, their victories and their triumphs.

AMAZING.

I left with a renewed spirit.

I left knowing that everything happens for a reason. Everything.

I'm moving forward with what has been planned and predestined for MY life.

Be encouraged. WHATEVER you are going through. Keep your head up and HANG IN THERE.
