You know, I caught up with a friend over the holidays who'd just broken up with his girlfriend. He said things were mostly great with them, but he kept catching her out in tiny, unimportant lies - just little things, like who drank the last of the milk, or why she didn't pick him up on time. He felt like he was breaking up with her for something silly, but all that just gave him the feeling that she couldn't be trusted with big things, either.
I think it's definitely true, integrity is a factor of the whole, not of parts.

That is so very, very true and honestly, that quote could not have graced my eyes at a better time. Thank you, Adrienne, for sharing it!

I agree with what everyone has said. If you lie about the small things, then I know you are DEFINITELY going to lie about the BIG things.

I agree I used to think there was nothing wrong with telling a little white lie as they call it until I realized the little ones will eventually turn into big lies
Posted by: barb | February 20, 2010 at 09:19 PM
totally agree. I don't believe in little white lies. Lying is lying. If you can't tell the truth in small situations then you will never tell the truth when it really counts. I especially can't deal with people that lie when there is no reason to lie. That makes no sense to me.

I agree with the quote 100%. If you can lie about the little tiny things that don't mean NOTHING, why wouldn't you lie about something that is IMPORTANT.
Liars - can't stand them no matter how smart.
