You should definitely do Buenos Aires. The plane ticket is a beast but everything else is oh so cheap once you get there. Ride the subway for a quarter, filet mignon for $8. The people are incredibly friendly and quite surprised to see North Americans. They will almost always assume you're Brazilian until you start speaking English.
