I must start by saying the instructions to this jacket are SUPERB. You guys know I am "follower" of the guide sheet" seriously. If I don't look at it...there are only a few pieces involved lol.

I did however pull out the following books to help me even more:

Easy Guide to Sewing Linings by Connie Long

Couture Sewing Techniques by Claire B. Shaeffer

Jackets for Real People

Singer Tailoring

Now why didn't just ONE book help?? Each book offered me something different.

You guys have NO idea how proud I am of myself for this jacket. This is my most favorite item to date.

Fabric:

Gabardine and silk for the lining.

Pattern Description:

Misses lined jacket

Pattern Sizing:

8-14

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?

Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow?

Yes very easy. This pattern is very well drafted!

What did you particularly like  or dislike about the pattern?

I loved this entire pattern.

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made:

I actually made some changes!! WOO HOO lol. Ok, not serious ones but still.  My mom has a white jacket that has a seam across the top of the jacket. I loved it, so I played around with it and did the same thing to my jacket (this picture) It's not a dart, but just another seam.

I also decided to add some top stitching to both sides of the seams. This took longer than anything because I had to draw the lines on using a ruler and chalk. NO WAY IN THE WORLD could I have gotten the stitching this straight without it.AND I SEWED VERY, VERY, VERY SLOWLY LOL.

I also decided to omit the pocket flap.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?

If I ever need another jacket, this will be the one I make. I will not even attempt (I don't think lol) to make a different pattern.

Conclusion:

Overall great pattern.  I'm very pleased that  I decided to go with this one. It's an older pattern but a great one none the less.

I won't add this review to Pattern Review until next week sometime. This is part of my mini wardrobe and for the lined jacket contest :-)

That's it for me guys! Hope you have a great weekend!!!!

Toodles!

Adrienne, that's the type of thing that makes people say, "WOW! You MADE that?" It's really incredible. I love the seam you added to the top front. That sloooow top stitching really paid off.

Great work on the jacket!!

Well, your top-stitching looks really great and I k-n-o-w it, 'cause I 'tortured' myself with it at my last project.

That jacket is the bomb! I have that pattern, however I don't think I could get mine to look as good as yours:-) Did you make a muslin for it?

That's gorgeous! Congratulations on a better than RTW jacket.

Love your jacket! Awesome work. Love the little design changes you've made.

You SHOULD be proud.

FABULOUS! FABULOUS! You should be proud of yourself for that! That jacket looks PERFECT!

The jacket is amazing - great finish work!! Love the pants suit on the woman behind Cheryl in the video and the couple dancing off to the right on stage got moves. :)

What do you know about that song girl? HA HA! You know I think you are a fabulous seamstress! Jackets are usually the hardest thing to fit and sew! Have a great weekend!

Adrienne! Your jacket looks absolutely fabulous! You did a beautiful job on it and the topstitching looks superb!

Yeah, what everyone said. I love the top stitching and the color and the silk lining. Jacket: don't leave home without it! It's that good.

So now, don't you feel like doing another one?

Oooh, fantastic job! I would wear that every day! It fits so well and was obviously constructed with so much care. Another lesson about how great things can look when we take our time. :)

Congratulations on your first jacket. I know how intimidating it can be - the shoulder pads, the lining, etc. But you did an awesome job and picked a great pattern and material. So versatile! Do you have labels? You need to get some made, cuz people ain't gonna believe you made that!

Love the jacket. Looks very professional.

Wow, you should be proud of yourself. Your work looks impeccable. Those notched collars look perfect, and I love the topstitching. And what a clever girl you are to incorporate that seam on the chest - well done!!

Awesome jacket!! and you did a great job with the topstitching.

You did one heck of a job with this jacket! My goodness you are good.

Luv the seaming, and good job with topstitching. Excellent job pressing. Whenever I use too make garments out of "gabardine" I would end up pressing it to a shine ;-) Terrific!!

Fabulous work all of it, what can I say that hasn't been said already!

Nice jacket. U can really whip them out, girl!!! Do u anything, slow-ly????? LOL!!!!

Fabulous! You did a terrific job! I mean seriously a wonderful job. You should be proud of yourself.

Keep up the good work!

You are amazing. That jacket is amazing. Love the stitching and all the detail. Wow, wow, wow!!!

First - the Cheryl Lynn song reminds me of "Friday Night" partying in college. I had no classes on Friday so it was for lounging and getting ready to go to the party and there was ALWAYS a party somewhere on campus or at the next campus over!!! BTW, much of my party gear came from my sewing machine which had a place of honor in my dorm room.

Next - what a great jacket for your first attempt. I would be proud of myself too if I managed to tame gabardine fabric and add a silk lining! Great job!

Girl I absolutely love this jacket you did a wonderful job! Have a great weekend!

Simply too perfect! Gratz

Your skills are getting so tight even someone like me who knows nothing bout sewing can see it! GO ADRIENNE!

Oh yeah...I hate you.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!! You are really good. I didn't realize you had such professional skills. This looks fabulous.

I can sew but not this well-lol. Great jacket. I'm going to look into those books you mentioned too. What a fabulous project.

look at you!! Your jacket looks great

Just stopping by to say hello! Cute jacket!

Ok Adrienne, seriously...are you buying these articles of clothing and just TELLING us that you've made them? I mean, for REAL! You do AWESOME work!!! I am very impressed. So, when is the "Adrienne" line gonna hit the stores? LOL

Thanks for sharing.

Ohhhhhhhhh!! How pretty is this! You know I am behind on my blog reading. This was a great surprise!
